See Everything You Missed at GQ Bowl
Released on 02/09/2025
One, two, three, four.
[live upbeat music]
What s up everybody?
I m Mina Kimes, live from the Hotel Peter and Paul,
here in New Orleans.
And I get the incredible honor of being the first person
to welcome you to the first ever GQ Bowl.
Tonight you re gonna see a runway show
from New York Fashion brand, Bode.
The theme, appropriate for what s going on
in the city this week, is Victory Parade.
It s taking place in this gorgeous cathedral tonight.
I m gonna go on a limb and say it s probably
the biggest fashion show this city has ever seen.
And along those lines,
we have guests pouring in from the worlds of sports,
of course, fashion, Hollywood, music.
Tonight you re going to see some
of them walk in on the green carpet.
We re gonna go to all of their fits.
We re gonna go backstage where the models are getting ready.
We re gonna have interviews with
all of our celebrity guests,
including the host of our event,
the editor of GQ himself, Will Welch.
It s gonna be epic, and it is a lot,
so because of that, I am not hosting this alone.
I have a co-host, the legend himself,
the original football fashion guy,
Victor Cruz.
Victor, can you hear me?
I can hear you louder and clear, Mina.
I m out here on the green carpet,
I m holding it down for you.
I know you re inside keeping cozy
and making sure everything s popping in there,
and I m on the green carpet.
It s a star studded event.
We got celebrities, we got athletes pulling up,
and I m gonna be the one out here on the green carpet
talking to em all, getting their vibe,
asking them when s the last time they ve been in a church,
let alone for a fashion show.
So here I am, Mina.
I m excited to see what people say to that.
Victor is my longtime friend of about 12 hours,
we met for the first time last night.
But honestly, I have always, like I said,
thought of you and your fits
as kind of laying the groundwork for
what we see a lot of today from these players,
especially when it comes to tunnel walks,
like you are the original tunnel fit guy.
This is true, I was the original,
and I was the tunnel fit guy
when there wasn t even like a tunnel.
[Mina] Yeah, right.
You just kind of hope someone took a picture of you
while you were walking into the game,
that was the era that I came from.
Do you feel like today s players
have stepped it up from back when you were playing?
Big time, I think, I mean, even just connecting
with these fashion brands and really creating looks now.
I mean, guys are really stepping out on a limb.
They re not afraid to wear certain things
and express themselves the way they want to,
and I think they re crushing it and doing a great job.
I m excited to be one of the forefathers of it,
that makes me feel really ancient.
[Mina] Does that make you old?
It makes me feel very ancient
and prehistoric a little bit.
But, you know- But it s all good.
So speaking of the tunnel fit, the tunnel walk,
this is now kind of an institution in all sports, really.
It s like miniature fashion shows before the games.
So along those lines, GQ created their own tunnel,
and knowing these guys and how competitive
they are on the field,
how competitive they are about fashion and their fits,
I do not doubt they are going to bring it.
That said, Victor,
would you like to show them how it s done?
I would love to show them how it s done.
I mean, I live for this moment, Mina, of course, of course.
[upbeat music]
All right, what s up guys?
We re back on the green carpet,
and I got my man, Joe Burrow, with me.
He stopped to have a couple questions.
He knows the vibe.
He knows New Orleans well, obviously being at LSU.
Now, talk to me, how s been your vibe?
When did you get here?
What s been the energy in New Orleans for you so far?
Since you re back at the crib almost, right?
Yeah, I got in a couple days ago.
It s always nice to be back.
The people in Louisiana are great.
They re so nice.
They let you walk around
like you re a normal person for the most part,
and so, you know, I got a lot of great memories here.
This is true, I agree with that.
Everywhere I ve been has been super nice.
Everyone s super helpful and always willing to accommodate.
Now, I have a fashion question for you.
You walked in the Vogue World Paris Show
wearing a backless suit.
Can you talk to me about that specific look?
What inspired it?
And what was your vibe when you were rocking it?
Because you was rocking that bad boy.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
I showed up to the fitting and they gave me two options
and one didn t have a back and one had a back,
and I was just like, Yeah, why not?
Let s make a moment, right? They wanted that one,
and I was like, Yeah, I m cool with it, let s go.
Okay, dope.
Okay, dope, I love that.
So now, when s the last time, now we got Bode tonight,
I m draped in Bode for the evening,
and we got them doing a fantastic show here in this church.
When s the last time you ve been in a church?
Oh, it s been a long time-
It s been a minute? Since I ve been
in a church man, probably high school.
Okay, okay, dope.
Yeah, I was a kid in church getting pinched,
like, Yo, you too loud.
My grandmother s like, You re too loud, so calm it down.
Yeah, I would always fall asleep a little bit or-
Exactly.
Get a little bored, I would say.
All right, Joe, I appreciate you, man,
thank you for giving us some time.
Get inside and have fun, man.
Yeah, thanks man. Appreciate.
Appreciate that.
[upbeat music]
So I am joined now by Braxton Berrios and Alix Earle.
I have...
Hello.
I have one question and you can both answer it.
Okay.
We ll see if you agree.
Who takes longer to get ready?
Oh, I mean- Oh.
That s me, no brainer.
Not even close? Yeah.
That s why we were rushing in here late.
I cut my leg.
I was, it was a whole to do, but definitely me.
Okay, have you stepped it up
since you guys started dating?
Absolutely,
it s taking me probably another 10 minutes now.
Another 10 minutes, okay. Maybe 10, yeah.
He got like a hair gel.
Yeah. Which is good.
That was, yeah, so, we ve grown up a little bit,
it s gone really well.
Well look, all of that time is paying off.
Thank you so much.
All right, we re gonna go back to Victor.
[upbeat music]
All right guys, welcome back to the green carpet.
And I m accompanied by the lovely,
Taylor Rooks. Thank you.
Thank you for joining us here today.
Now you re always the one doing
the hard hitting questions, right?
Talking to these athletes,
trying to get all the information,
all the deep, dark secrets that they have.
Now it s my turn to flip the script, are you ready?
You re turning the tables on me?
Are you ready for the question?
I m ready to do it.
If you could interview anyone from any era
for an exclusive GQ interview, who would it be,
and what s the first question you would ask?
Hmm.
Big J jouro, I ve never thought about this question.
Here we go, I got the hard hitting one.
This is GQ, this is about the people that
set the tone when it comes to fashion,
so, in sports, that s somebody like Allen Iverson.
Ooh, I like that. I d be curious,
you know, just how cognizant he is of the fact
that he has influenced all the fashion
that were seeing in sport. This is true.
Rules are literally named after Allen Iverson.
This is true.
But also somebody like Michael Jackson.
Yes. Who was just transcendent,
but every time that he stepped out,
you saw his clothes, it was a moment,
and he set the tone for his generation too.
Incredible. So it s the people like that
that if you look at them, you see an era.
And what s the question you would ask?
What s the first question you would ask Allen Iverson?
Let s take AI for starters.
Well, A, I m curious who he believes
to be the tone setter now.
Mm.
Like whose clothes are defining this NBA era like he did?
That s probably what I d ask.
I like that. But you know, I got to prep.
I got to a research. She s a pro.
I got to think about. She s a pro.
She s already got the questions down.
Okay, last question for you.
Who do you think doesn t get enough credit
for their style right now, currently?
Oh, I mean, well first off,
you see Victor Cruz in his Bode.
Talk to me nice. I mean, look at this.
Do I need to pose? Do I need to swag it out for y all?
He is fitted up, okay?
I mean, of course you have like the obvious guys,
but somebody who I think is simplistic with his dress,
and because of that it doesn t always get the shine.
I love everything Devin Booker wears.
Ooh, I m a huge fan of Devin Booker.
You know?
Because it s so simple, it s chic.
He s not trying, it doesn t look like
he s ever trying too hard, right?
Exactly, it s him too.
I couldn t agree more. It just works.
I couldn t agree more. I ll go D. Book.
Taylor Rooks, thank you for spending
some time with us here
on the green carpet. Thank you.
Go take some pictures.
Go get fly.
Happily.
Go get inside the church and get ready for the show.
Always a pleasure, Victor.
We appreciate you. Thank you for having me.
[Victor] Thank you. Bye.
[upbeat music]
All right, I am joined now by CeeDee Lamb,
who looks great, as always.
I got to ask, how does this stylish athlete
such as yourself get ready for an event like this?
Treat it like a game.
Obviously, a bit nervous, but I m excited about it.
It s gonna be my first show that I get to walk,
so I m back in my hometown.
It s in your home stay, yeah.
What s that like?
Obviously, as we all know, I m from Louisiana.
I was raised here,
got a lot of family, friends,
and I got to, you know, step out
and see some of my favorite spots.
And with that I got a new phone.
Okay. I should show you.
Let s see it.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The camera on here is fire, and I love it,
and it helps me capture all
my favorite moments about the city.
So just enjoying it, taking it all in, and having fun.
Having fun.
Well, you re gonna have fun in there tonight.
Have a great time walking.
I got you, thank you.
[upbeat music]
What s up guys, thanks for circling back with me.
I ve been on this green carpet,
just navigating the vibes and talking to cool people.
And today, I have my man, Kordell here.
What s going? What s going?
Thanks for pulling up on us,
appreciate it. Thanks for having me here.
Thanks for having me here. Now first and foremost,
I got to talk about the fit.
Where s the outfit from?
Wayne.
Wayne, yeah.
From Wayne
It s gonna say on the back.
Okay, oh, I see it
Wayne, yeah. Wayne.
Yeah, so head to toe,
from the blazer to the shirt, to the pants.
It looks good.
What inspired the fit?
So I have a stylist, his name is Marty.
So me and Marty, we kind of just like go over ideas
and we kind of put our minds together.
Love that. And then create a piece.
So sometimes, I mix and match like,
different or within the same brand.
Yeah.
And we choose the certain things
that we like and then put em together.
Yeah, I love the textures.
You got different textures.
You got the pocket square. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, you know, you know.
[Victor] I love the fit of the pant.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
[Victor] You know what I mean?
It s all coming together man. I appreciate that.
I appreciate it. I appreciate that.
Now tell me your most fun night
that you ve had in New Orleans, right?
I know you spent some time here as a kid.
Yeah.
You went to the football games,
you did some things in New Orleans.
Yeah. So you have a history here.
What s the most fun thing,
the most fun activity that you ve done in the city?
I wanna say, I ll say, I actually,
yesterday I went to one of my brother s party
he was a hosting, and I had a lot of fun there.
And it was cool to kind of just do certain things
like this with him, so me being able to actually go out
and be in the same place as the area as him is pretty cool.
So I enjoyed that, that s the best I had.
And I know your brother personally,
and I know the party was a vibe.
Yeah.
And I know he throws a good party.
Yeah.
So I know you had a good time,
so I know it was a vibe.
Kordell, thank you for spending some time with us
on the carpet, man.
Take some cool photos, get inside and enjoy the show.
We appreciate you. Yes sir, I sure will.
Thank you. All right, dope.
[upbeat music]
All right, I am joined by Alvin Kamara,
home game for you here in New Orleans.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I gotta start with this,
your septum piercing is kind of your signature look.
Do you ever get a little bit worried
about it on the football field?
Nah, I m never worried about it.
Really, it s not really accessible-
Okay. To anything or anyone
on the field, so.
You d have to really?
Yeah, you gotta, yeah, you gotta do something.
You gotta do some digging.
Get your fingers in it.
Okay, so you re in part,
because you re an unbelievably stylish person,
so I have to ask,
who do you think is the most stylish athlete of all time?
Ah, the most stylish athlete of all time?
It s a tough question.
Yeah, that s a tough question.
Any sport too, you can go any sport.
Man.
You can stick to your sport though
if you wanna narrow it a little bit.
I m not gonna say, I m not gonna go my sport,
and I m gonna go like current players.
Okay.
I m gonna go Shai at OKC.
Really? Yeah.
You like his, he kind of, he s adventurous.
Yeah, he, you know, what I m saying?
He don t stick to any norms,
like he just do his thing, whatever he feeling.
So, shout out to him, shout out Shai.
All right, well, this is Alvin Kamara.
Back to you guys.
All right guys, we re back on the green carpet,
and I m here with Benito Skinner.
Oh my God.
First of all, I got to talk about this football jersey.
Stop. Where was the inspiration?
Where s it from?
Talk to me, because it s great.
It s ERL, it s my boy Eli, ERL.
He was like, I ve got a little something
I think you ll like.
And I was a wide receiver in high school, so,
we re reliving it today.
Wait, I didn t even know we were both wide receivers?
No, I know, and everyone knows that.
Everyone knew that when I, yeah-
I think that s why we re doing it.
Disconnection.
I think that s why we re doing it, but wait, you had a,
similar to me, I heard you had an end zone dance,
some sort of celebratory dance that you did in high school.
Oh my God. Can you teach me?
I want to know- Well, I was, it was so bad,
cause all the straight guys were good at it,
so I would kind of awkwardly try,
but I think- What was it?
It was like a chest bump.
Oh, was it a chest bump?
You want a chest bump right now?
Well, of course. All right, let s do it.
Did you hear that? We did it.
Did you feel that?
Wow. That was a thing,
that just happened here in New Orleans,
that just happened. Touchdown.
Okay, next, I want to ask you,
who was the most iconic person
that you ve sat next to at a fashion show?
Oh, Charlie XCX.
Charlie XCX. Done.
Amazing. Yeah, Miss Met, herself.
And what show was that?
Coach.
Oh, Coach. Yeah, yeah.
Coach is great, got good stuff.
Yeah, yeah.
But we re here for Bode tonight.
We re here for Bode, I was about to say-
When was the last time you ve been in a church?
Have you been in a church recently?
I actually shot Queer As Folk here.
Really?
Yeah, which is so funny, I was like,
where have I seen this church before?
And I did a scene in here,
so I m sure this church is excited to have me back.
That s incredible. Yeah, yeah.
If you could go to any era in time-
Oh my God.
Where would you go back there, and what would you wear?
What fashion moment- Oh.
What fashion era would you love to go to?
Oh my God. It s a tough question.
I think honestly, maybe just like 2003 again, you know?
What was that, like big baggy clothes,
kind of like the vibe right now.
I know, that s what I m saying,
kind of like the Etnies moment.
Yes, exactly.
I think I d go back and do that again.
I love that.
Simpler times. Yeah, give it my new swing.
Yeah.
Simpler times. Simpler times, absolutely.
Things were great back then, weren t they?
Yeah, I think, I d like to think.
Thank you for taking the time
on the green carpet. Thank you so much.
Get in there- I m such a fan.
Take some photos, get inside, get acclimated.
Come here. Such a pleasure-
There it is, there it is.
That happened, that happened.
[upbeat music]
All right, I am here with my longtime friend,
the editor of GQ himself, Will Welch.
Will, we got a major fashion event coming up, the Met Gala,
it s the first one ever focused on men s wear.
Have you started thinking about your look?
Mina, first of all, thank you for hosting the GQ Bowl,
I really appreciate it.
And yes, of course I started thinking about my Met Gala look
and also Vogue and GQ have a really cool special project
that we ve been working on in the lead up to the Met,
so, stay tuned for more on that.
And yeah, hopefully by May I ll be ready with a great look.
Well, speaking of great looks, tell me about the GQ Bowl,
and how the idea for this concept came together?
Yeah, we ve done parties at the last three Super Bowls
and have always had a great time,
and as with everything GQ,
we re always thinking about
where s the opportunity to do something more?
And this felt like an opportunity.
Fashion has increasingly been bringing people
from all over the culture to Fashion Week,
and we thought we could kind of invert that
and bring fashion to a big cultural moment
like this weekend.
And then I thought that
given that we re in New Orleans this weekend,
that Emily Bode and what she does,
which is this sort of historically-based approach to fashion
was the perfect fit for New Orleans.
And then we found a nice old church.
It s more than nice, it is stunning.
You ve known Emily for a minute.
How did you guys go about collaborating to make this happen?
Yeah, well, we have a natural connection,
we re both from Atlanta, Georgia,
so, go Falcons.
And yeah, just, Emily and her team have been
so incredible to work with and I think this collection,
Bode Recreation,
which is an exploration of the history
of American sportswear also just makes so much sense
for a big sporting moment like this.
All right, we re about to see that collection.
We re about to see Bode return to the runway
for the first time in a couple of years.
I am extremely pumped,
but let s learn a little bit more about the brand.
Let s do it.
[Narrator] Last spring, award-winning fashion designer,
Emily Adams Bode Aujla launched Bode Rec,
a new line built from the DNA of American sportswear
featuring tender reinterpretations
of vintage uniforms and eccentric sideline attire.
When I think about Bode Recreation
and building out that universe,
I m thinking about the jerseys and the uniforms that
these guys and girls are wearing,
but also the clothes that build out their everyday life.
[Narrator] Off the field, pro ball MVPs,
like Lamar Jackson, Saquon Barkley, and Ja Marr Chase,
have developed a taste for Bode s modern heirlooms,
but Emily s football connections run even deeper.
Emily s designs are guided by the history of clothing
and she s particularly fascinated
by the long tradition of American athletic wear.
It was really important for me to reference
all of my archival materials for this collection.
I actually used this photo of my dad from school.
It s cute.
[Narrator] Bode Rec Spring 2025
celebrates 200 years of American sportswear.
Bode Rec at the GQ Bowl is a watershed moment
in the evolving conversation between football and fashion.
Enjoy the show.
What up, I m here on the green carpet,
and we re blessed and honored to be accompanied
by my man Wisdom Kaye here.
Thank you, thank you. First and foremost.
I got to know man, there s a lot of fashion trends
that have been happening all year long.
Tell me a fashion trend that you re tired of seeing
that you want benched for 2025.
Oh wow.
I think, to be honest,
the only trend I ever want benched is the trend on
hating on what other people are wearing and doing.
[Victor] I love that.
Okay, now you see our GQ Bowl logo, right?
[Wisdom] Nice. You see the vibes?
[Wisdom] Yeah. How would you style this?
What would your-
How would I style the GQ Bowl?
How would you style a GQ logo in a fashion look?
Oh my gosh.
This logo in a fashion that s like, so I,
some people think I have like synesthesia or something,
I m not that special.
I just kind of, so honestly, I don t know.
I like the, the colors are already good enough.
I would just wear these colors.
Probably some like floral shirts or something like that.
All right. Some, like a suit jacket,
maybe something with some strong shoulders
cause of the font, you know, something like that.
You may see the post on
a social media platform later actually,
that s a good challenge.
[Victor] All right, that s good enough.
See, we gave him a challenge today, guys.
Wisdom, thank you for hanging out with us man.
Thank you, thank you.
Get inside there and enjoy the show.
Absolutely.
We appreciate you man. Will do, absolutely.
Pleasure meet you. Absolutely, likewise.
Thank you man.
For sure.
[upbeat music]
All right, I am now joined by Da Vine Joy Randolph,
you won an Oscar last year, belated congratulations.
Thank you very much.
Oscars are coming up,
so I got to ask you a couple of questions.
Sure.
Who is your pick for best picture?
I can t do that.
I can t. You can t choose?
I can t choose-
What if you choose like two movies?
They re very good this year.
And it s so funny because each year
has like a different vibe or different energy,
and I love is that we have these greats
that I grew up with coming back and killing the game.
I don t know, it is so tough.
And then when you know the people,
you re like, I can t choose, it s like your children,
you can t choose.
Okay, so then if I was to ask you
about your category, best supporting actress?
Oh, you re asking all the questions, got it, okay.
It doesn t have to be who you think should win,
it could be maybe like a sentimental fave perhaps.
Mm, a sentimental fave.
I could venture to guess that I think Zoe Saldana
will probably win.
Okay, interesting.
Which is pretty cool,
because she s had such an amazing career thus far,
and went and took a challenge
to do something completely different.
On a personal note,
I would ve loved if Selena was also nominated
because I also think that she did a phenomenal job.
Yeah, I don t know.
I love musicals,
I hope Wicked gets some stuff.
It s good.
It s a good category.
It s nice and tough.
Would you do a musical?
Yeah, of course I d do a musical, absolutely.
Okay, so we re here for obviously a fashion show,
I have to ask you,
what is going through your head
when you re sitting and watching a fashion show?
I like to keep my mind so open
and I just like to receive,
they usually always have an amazing setting
and atmosphere that helps set the mood, the music,
and I just take it in.
And I m so grateful because you know,
it s like you re watching somebody s art
that they ve been working on for months.
And so, I just take note.
It s almost like when I m doing a script,
you just, the first pass,
you just see what naturally catches your eye
and I just make a mental note of it,
and then later I ll go back
or I ll tell my team and be like, hey-
Get that for me, that for me.
Yeah, or I like that. That for me.
Yeah, that detail in that, or that s new and interesting.
So it s inspiring, exciting.
I love that, art.
Okay, we re gonna go back to Victor now.
What s up, we re back on the green carpet,
and I m just, you know, sometimes family comes to see you,
and Mario Carbone is absolutely family.
Thank you for pulling up to the green carpet for us.
My pleasure, my pleasure.
My first question for you,
and we were just talking about it actually,
you re a huge Emeril Lagasse fan,
and you re actually doing something there tonight.
Tell me why he s so iconic to you,
and what makes him such a high guy on your list?
He s the godfather of the city,
I mean, for culinarily speaking,
he s the godfather of this place.
I grew up watching him.
I respect him immensely.
When I come to, if I come to his city,
you go and you pay respect to the guy.
100%, that makes absolute sense to me.
So, let s say you re cooking something up in New Orleans,
you got something, actually,
you actually have something cooking up with GQ.
Can you tell us a little bit about that?
Yeah, we re doing a little dinner here tomorrow night,
and what I tried to do with the dinner is
bring my thing but bring a little bit
of the element of the city as well.
So I ve got like pastry shops and bread bakers,
I ve got the greats of New Orleans
making things for us for tomorrow.
So that, for those that are coming,
get a little bit of taste of the city also.
Can we get a couple things?
Do we know a couple things?
Are there beignets?
Are there, what are the vibes happening?
There s Muffuletta breadsticks.
Okay, now he s talking that Italian talk to me.
Being baked around the corner at Ayu Bake Shop,
we re bringing obviously spicy rigatoni
and the meatballs, and that whole thing.
Okay, okay.
The old original Italian American bakery called Brocato.
Oh, wow.
They re baking some cookies and some cakes for us
just so that we have like,
we have the city presence- Have the full gambit.
The city s in the building, you know?
I love it.
The city s absolutely in the building.
Mario, thank you for pulling up on us.
It s a pleasure.
Get in there, take some photos, get inside,
enjoy the show and I ll see you inside, brother.
Thank you. Thank you.
[upbeat music]
Okay, pretty much everybody is seated.
The models are getting ready.
I m getting butterflies.
I m so excited for this.
Are you, I m excited too, Mina, I m not gonna lie.
I m getting nostalgic though.
I m in here, I m seeing the stained glass windows.
It reminds me of when my grandmother used to pinch me
cause I was being loud or falling asleep in church.
That s the vibe I m getting right now, but I m excited.
I m also excited because this is actually
our first time seeing each other.
We ve been in separate spaces.
You ve been on the green carpet, how was that?
It was a vibe.
I mean, I m talking to all the guests,
making sure everybody s ready
and primed for the fashion show.
Getting the vibes.
How are you holding it down in here?
You know, I ll be honest,
this was my first time in a church
in maybe 20, 25 years. Really, okay.
It might be a common theme with some folks,
not to make implications or speculate,
but I m really pumped because this show is gonna be holy.
We are about to watch the first ever
Spring Rec 2025 Bode fashion show.
I cannot wait.
I m very excited.
And now without further ado, ladies and gentlemen,
Leon Bridges.
