Are we in trouble?
Be frank with me here. No, I m loving it.
We re sorry.
We have a lot to say.
Big feelings here on the set of Wicked.
[screen beeping]
Hi, Vogue, this is Ariana Grande.
I m Cynthia Erivo. And I m Jonathan Bailey.
And this is-
[Ariana, Cynthia AndJonathan] Jonathan] Off the Cuff.
[Cynthia] Round one, icebreakers.
Are you ready? I think so.
Cynthia. Yeah?
Where would you like to take me on holiday?
Iceland came to mind.
[Ariana] Wow.
Are we going to the fjords?
Yeah. I love it.
It s sort of the most unlikely place
that you could have the most beautiful
sort of relaxing holiday
and I think you need to relax.
Thank you.
And there s some really great spas there.
Ariana, you re sitting with two iconic Brits,
give us your best accent.
Oh, no.
Yeah, come on.
You re good at accents.
By all means then, come along, sir.
Very good.
That s like late 1800s.
I don t know why that s what came to me.
I know, but you do a really good me as well.
Well, I try. Yeah.
Sometimes. Yeah, very good.
Can you just do a Hermione Grainger?
Oh, that s great, yeah.
Well, it depends on her mood.
Depends on what the circumstance is.
It s Ron, you re talking to Ron.
You ve got dirt on your nose.
Did you know?
Just there.
That s really good.
That is really good.
That actually was really good.
Boo, boo, boo.
Ariana to Jonathan. Yes.
If someone narrated your life,
who would you want to do it?
Peter Dinklage.
Yeah. Yes.
Jonathan to Cynthia.
We don t have to say that bit, do we?
Jonathan to Cynthia. I like it.
It s clear. Jonathan to Cynthia.
Okay. What is the coolest trick you can do?
I can actually put my hands
in prayer position behind my back.
This is very silly.
I love this.
Wow.
That is incredible.
There s gonna be the sound of, like,
a thousand people trying to do that.
Yeah.
Jonathan, what s your most played song, Jonathan?
Freedom, George Michael.
Love!
[Ariana] Round two, personal questions.
Round two, personal questions.
What s your guilty pleasure?
Watching Housewives.
I started one of em.
It lost me. Yeah.
But I get the appeal.
It s coming to London. I hear.
Are you joking?
I hear.
I ve not seen an episode of-
Real Housewives of London.
Yeah. I think it s coming.
Am I right?
Yes!
All right. Okay.
Ariana, which song instantly puts you in a good mood?
♪ Something bad ♪
Yeah, Something Bad, actually.
You love it. I do. I do love.
[Cynthia] You do.
I also love A Sentimental Man.
It is A on the iTunes,
so it s the first thing that plays
if your phone goes alphabetically.
So it is a good old pick me up.
A Sentimental Man.
Jonathan, what was your favorite childhood film?
Ariana, my favorite childhood film was,
I would always say The Snowman, you know?
Oh, yeah. Raymond Briggs.
Walking In The Air.
Yeah, which I feel like maybe
is not many people globally are aware of The Snowman,
but it s beautiful. It s beautiful.
It s heartbreaking.
Yeah. Oh my gosh.
A Christmas film.
Absolutely love it.
I had three VHS s growing up and one was Ants.
Oh, Ants. Oh my gosh!
Which I loved.
Big hit. Me too.
I ve been thinking about that a lot.
And then there was a Tina Turner live VHS
and there was Andre Agassi just playing tennis.
So they re not films,
but that s what I used to watch.
Cynthia. Yes.
Something I m secretly really good at is...
[Ariana laughing] Something-
Then it says dot, dot, dot.
I know.
[Ariana] You are secretly good at
or you are secretly good at?
I thought we asked this one already.
No, something Jonathan.
Oh, you are secretly really good at.
Johnny is secretly really good at.
I understand.
I actually think that he s really good designer.
I think you ve got a really wonderful eye for detail
and creating fashionable things.
There s a t-shirt that he designed.
Drink your milk.
[Cynthia speaking foreign language]
Drink your milk, which I think is-
Drink your milk. It is spectacular.
I just think it s really tongue in cheek and fabulous.
I just like- I m so-
[Cynthia] Are you blushing?
Are you blushing? Yeah. I am actually.
No, I m being so serious.
I think it s fantastic.
No, thank you. Yeah.
Also, but, come on, coming from, come on.
No, I love it. I think it s great.
Are you superstitious?
If so, what s one superstition you believe in the most?
No, I don t think I am.
Hmm.
That s about it.
I don t know that I have more to say on that matter.
Carrying right along.
Ariana to Jonathan.
I love it when.
I love it when. I love it when,
well, you know. Oh, about me.
I m always confused by the perspective.
Okay. I love it when.
I love it when you get,
I can t even say it,
the giggles. Yeah. We get it bad.
Yeah. I love it actually- Thank God she anchors us.
I know. But also you can giggle.
It s true. Oh, no,
I get the giggles sometimes.
I do. It s true.
Round three, career questions.
What does Wicked unlock in you
that other roles have not?
I think she sort of gave me a bit of a place
to put, like, any, like, rage.
She s a little bit unbridled compared to other characters.
She s a little bit looser,
especially in the second movie,
she s just got a little bit more fire in her
than the other characters, you know?
She does. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
So I think I ve been able to unlock that.
Hell yeah.
You sure have.
Not always space to be able to show rage.
Yes. True. I think as a woman.
Yeah.
What s your favorite song that you ve ever written?
It does change, I guess,
but at the moment it would have
to be something from Internal Sunshine
cause that s my newest child.
I can t pick a favorite.
I can t today.
What would you be doing if you weren t an actor?
I used to say I wanted to be a pilot,
but that was just to pretend that-
Okay.
I d be in, I don t know, music.
Yeah. Yeah.
I d be in music.
I don t mean that. Yeah.
I mean that.
I don t mean that.
I mean that.
I was thinking about where I d play,
like, the piano or, you know,
like, musical instrument. Or the flute.
Or the flute. The flute.
Clarinet. Love.
I d play the clarinet.
Do you play clarinet?
He played clarinet in Jurassic Park.
[Jonathan] I did.
Yeah. Yeah.
Do you actually play though?
Yeah. Well, I did, but it s sort of a real, yeah.
I used to play. Did you?
The clarinet? Yes. Yes.
That was my instrument.
Marching band. I played the French horn.
[Jonathan laughing]
We re now going to round four, style question.
Cynthia, who is your favorite designer of all time?
Oh my God. And why?
No, I m not-
No, you don t have an answer to that.
I can t have an answer to that.
I m so sorry. I will not.
I am avid buyer and shopper of clothes and fashion.
I love it.
Truly. I do.
If you could swap wardrobes with someone for a day,
who would you choose?
Oh, I don t know.
But it wouldn t be someone from now, you know?
It d be like a sixties girly.
I am very- Biba.
I feel very vintage. It s gonna be a Biba dress.
[Cynthia] Biba s cool.
Jonathan. Yes.
Who is your style icon?
Growing up in the nineties,
Princess Diana. Love.
Mmm. George Michael.
Love! Mr. Motivator.
Love that! Right.
Color. Oh my God!
If you don t know, get to know.
If you don t know, get to know.
Timmy Mallett. Oh my God!
Are we now going down a really perilous path?
But that s kind of- But that kind of fab.
I know.
That combination is-
That s kind of good child.
But it is also also you.
I can see that.
Also the Mr. Motivator is in the building today.
Yeah. In this. Perfect.
And let s ask these next questions really fast.
We can do it. We can do it.
First designer fashion purchase, Jonathan?
Well, I saved up to buy a pair of Adidas Poppers.
You know, the- Which was a big deal.
Yeah. Yeah. It was a big deal.
And then I bought a Dior suit for a wedding when I was,
I think, 22. Well done.
And it was a real big moment.
Well done. And it was-
Beautiful. Beautiful.
And we ve still got it.
What is the most worn piece in your wardrobe?
Currently, these really cool Capital Jeans is a-
I love Capital. I love.
And they re patchwork and I found them at,
like, a vintage store.
You can t get them anymore.
So I m really, really pleased that I found them.
What s one item from Belinda s wardrobe
that you would incorporate into your own?
Oh my.
Maybe some of her underwear.
She s got some cute little corsets
and little underskirts situations.
Nice. Maybe, perhaps.
All right. But the rest doesn t really
go with today s activities.
The hooded cardigan.
Oh, yes, I have that.
I stole it.
That works today for real.
I stole it.
You should ve done that with your gray one.
I have it now. I took mine.
I said, Take matters in your hands,
put it in the car and take it home.
I took my cloak, my whispering cloak.
Yeah.
And I told them when I was doing it.
I said to them, I said, I m taking this.
[Jonathan laughing]
Round five. Round five.
Okay. Guess the look.
Okay, Cynthia? Yes.
Where is this look from?
Ooo, okay.
Oh, that s the Tonys.
Sorry. I realize I ve gotta show Cynthia first.
It s the Tony Awards.
It s when I won my Tony.
It is Roberto Cavalli. Amazing.
Oh, it s zoomed in. Yes.
Oh, yeah. Now I get to show you.
Got it. I understand.
So it s not like a magic eye.
I understand. Gorgeous. Yes, it is.
Gorgeous. Beautiful.
Perfect.
Where is this look from?
That s a me.
That s in Paris. In context.
Beautiful show actually.
Please tell me what this look is.
[Cynthia] Whoa!
Holy hell.
That s my ass
at the AMA Awards
and I had a fever. Oh, dear.
I had a 103 fever.
Oh my God. Yes, I did.
How the hell did you get through that?
You know.
You gotta do what you gotta do.
Delirium.
But, yeah, that crop was very funny.
And that hair is really crazy as well.
But, you know, a time and place for everything.
Round six.
Okay. Sunnies or hat?
Sunnies.
Celine Dion or Whitney Houston?
What?
That s, like, impossible.
That s so mean. Just say Mariah.
Oh, God. Both.
Can I say both? Yes.
Of course you can. Both. Both.
I m gonna say both.
Jonathan, aisle or window?
Window.
Cynthia, international vacation or staycation?
I m gonna say international.
Though I love a staycation.
I really do.
Surprised me, that one.
I know because I m a homebody.
I know. But if I m international,
you can t get me.
I m away.
Cat or dog?
And currently I need it.
Cat or dog?
See? You see, I m not good with a lightning round.
I know. I know.
I m not good with the lightning round.
That s not a good question to ask.
What would Delu say?
All animals. All animals. No. All animals.
She s got, like, a farm. Okay. Okay.
Dog. I m gonna say dog.
I m gonna say dog.
But I love all animals. Yes.
I can t do lightning.
Early riser or night owl?
Me? Yeah.
Early riser. Yeah.
Cynthia, sweet or salty?
Both. Oh, yeah.
Sweet and salty.
Astrology or astronomy?
Both.
Why the hell not.
RuPaul s Drag Race or Great British Bake Off?
[Jonathan gasping]
Well, I love soggy bottoms,
so it s gotta be RuPaul s Drag Race.
[Jonathan and Cynthia laughing]
Cynthia, film or digital?
Film.
Live show or studio time?
Oh, God.
I mean, studio time.
Well, depends on the live show though.
Yeah. Depends on the context.
Lose your voice for a day
or sing everything you have to say?
Well, if I sang for a day,
I d lose my voice anyway.
So, both.
That was really fun. Yeah.
That was really fun.
I enjoy that. Thank you all so much.
Thank you, Vogue.
