How I help the environment every day

is something that s been in my life for years

because my mom would recycle everything,

and I mean everything.

We would not only take what our neighbors

wouldn t want or need anymore,

but once we finished with them,

we would pass it on to families that were

less fortunate, and I have practiced that

in my everyday life and that s something

that everyone can do.

This year, I vowed to cut down my usage

of plastic water bottles.

If I could cut down 50%, then I m doing my part.

It s about little steps for me,

and that s what I ask of other people as well as myself.

I think it s definitely possible to be fashionable

and environmentally conscious.

We have designers like Stella McCartney,

who s amazing, and you don t get much more fashionable

than her, and we have people like Donna Karan

doing her line called Urban Zen.

Certainly, a few years ago, it was a little more

difficult to be environmentally conscious with fashion,

but now there s a lot of choice.

It s just takes a little research

and a little digging.

My hope for the environment in 10 years or so,

it s that this becomes an everyday discussion

and everyday in normal households.

It s just about shifting consciousness

and creating awareness.
