My name s Sam

and I m an actor in Avatar.

And I got here today by a car.

(laughing)

(upbeat action music)

The basic plot of the movie is a young Marine

is sent to another planet called Pandora.

This young guy has to infiltrate the aliens

and gets caught between a moral dilemma

of what s right and wrong.

This is your avatar.

An avatar is basically

a nine-foot tall blue version of me.

I basically looked at Jake Sully as a five-year-old kid.

He s exploring this planet just like the audience

are going to explore the planet.

Jim s very clever in taking people on a journey.

The guy is so detailed, it s ridiculous.

He makes you better.

He is the best actors director I ve ever worked with.

We don t have enough tape for me to keep talking of him.

This here, without its legs, is an AMP suit.

As Jim would say, they re a hard-ass beast.

But on the Avatar, we re filming on a place called a volume,

which is basically stage

with about 190-odd infrared cameras,

and you wear a motion-capture suit

so my CG model moves exactly like I move.

We wear helmet cams that picks up every movement

my face does, so therefore the alien

reacts exactly like I would.

You gotta be kidding me.

I think it s kind of a bit presumptuous to say

what you could be proud of.

I think you have to leave it to other people

to judge who you are.

I can only go on this journey and be thankful

that Jim allowed a crazy young Aussie

to go on the journey with him.
