Last week, at the Women’s Forum Global Meeting 2025 in Paris, Amal Clooney offered a masterclass not only in advocacy, but in understated and elegant tailoring. While you might expect a formal power suit for such an occasion, Clooney gently subverted convention.
The 20th edition of the Women’s Forum Global Meeting took place at Place Vendôme in Paris last week, where this year’s theme was “Courage.” Clooney, a celebrated barrister who specializes in international law and a passionate human rights defender, frequently represents victims of mass atrocities, including genocide and sexual violence. As the co-founder of the Clooney Foundation for Justice (which celebrated the inaugural London edition of The Albies last month), she facilitates providing free legal aid in defence of free speech and women’s rights in over 40 countries. The foundation’s work spans child marriage, helping young women lawyers across Africa launch their careers in human rights, and providing thousands of women free legal support to defend themselves against abuse and economic discrimination. Clooney joined over 150 experts sharing their ideas and perspectives for amplifying women’s voices and improving gender equality.
On stage, in front of world leaders and changemakers, Clooney wore a mint-toned knit crewneck top and off-white, wide-leg cut pants with suit-style pleating that emphasized her height, cinched at the waist for structure. Her accessories echoed her sartorial restraint: a chunky silver chain necklace and pointed brown snake-print heels that peeked out from below the impeccably tailored trousers.
Beauty-wise, she leaned into her natural glow, with a light-glossed nude lip and lined, defined eyes. Her hair was styled by her longtime hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos (who also recently gave Clooney a refreshed chop for fall), accentuating her signature waves with glossy, latte-toned highlights, framing her face.
It’s been a busy week for Clooney, who also appeared at the 2025 Prix Suisse in Bern. The barrister reflected on her transition from a New York litigation firm, where her pro bono accounts exposed the stark inequities in how justice is dispensed, to joining the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, where she represents political prisoners and victims of genocide. She also spoke about the work of the Clooney Foundation. She wore a statement, candy apple red Sergio Hudson jumpsuit that she once wore to Meghan Markle’s baby shower in 2019—it’s just one more example of expertly executed tailoring taking pride of place in the Amal Clooney wardrobe rotation.
This weekend, the Clooneys traveled to the Philippines and met President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos at Malacañang Palace in Manila, where they will also speak at the Social Good Summit.
Clooney has long refined her public-speaking signature looks, having worn pinstripe Atelier Versace for 4Gamechangers, golden Rami Al Ali at the We Choose Earth Tour, and all-white Stella McCartney for the Global Conference for Media Freedom. Out of the boardroom and off the conference stage, Clooney delights in the more glitzy aspects of her personal style: a chocolate brown Versace gown for the 2025 Albies, a candy pink and showgirl-esque Tamara Ralph gown to walk the Jay Kelly premiere carpet in London with her husband George Clooney.
But an uncompromising mainstay in Amal Clooney’s wardrobe? A perfect pair of pants—cigarette trousers, palazzo, suit, even flared denim.
