If there’s two things Blake Lively loves, it’s sequins and a novelty bag. Sometimes it’s a sherbet sequin gown, or a bedazzled take on double denim. Other times it’s a pizza-shaped bag, a crystal peony ball clutch, or a bejewelled crossbody number from her beloved Judith Leiber. This time, Lively combines both in a sunshiney, summer in the city look.
Photographed yesterday (June 10) on the streets of New York with a friend, the Another Simple Favor actor outfitted herself in an aforementioned Lively staple, an Ashish sequin skirt suit. This time, Lively gave the set a bright and bold twist, opting for a fluffy and sparkly rainbow jacket and skirt.
The skirt suit has had somewhat of a Gen-Z re-evaluation, of recent—an officewear staple of the ’80s revived by the likes of Lily-Rose Depp, in the ladylike fashions of Mikey Madison, with vintage numbers for Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner, and a padded shoulder Calvin Klein set offering for Daisy Edgar-Jones. Lively, a face of Chanel, has long had a penchant for the French house’s tweedy co-ords, bringing her own personal touches to the C-suite silhouette. Adding a matchy-matchy, rainbow ensemble from the bold, joyous, colorful mind of designer Ashish Gupta makes total sense for Lively’s wardrobe.
And as Lively likes to do in styling herself, for this look, she added a legion of eclectic accessories. She reached for a pale blue beaded Susan Alexandra bag adorned with 3D cherries, and added sparkly blue peeptoe heels, as well as two chunky charm necklaces and multiple gold hoop earrings.
The Blake Lively self-styled wardrobe teems with color, texture, and unexpected accessories. Following the news that It Ends With Us actor and director Justin Baldoni’s defamation case against her and her husband Ryan Reynolds was dismissed, Lively appeared at Chanel’s Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner in good spirits and wearing a sweet crochet midi dress and pearly pumps, adding a bedazzling Chanel Scarab Minaudière from the house’s Karl Lagerfeld-designed 2019 Métiers d’Art show in Egypt, and a more casual blue chore jacket draped over her shoulders.
Now free of any press tour, Lively can enjoy some relaxed, summer in New York dressing—donning layers of sequins in a litany of cuts and silhouettes, and picking up whatever novelty accessory that catches her eye next.
