It’s been a few months since we last saw Blake Lively. All the way back in June, if you can recall, Lively was in a summery sartorial mode, enjoying the brightest and most sparkly elements of her style: A rainbow twist on the skirt suit trend, a white lacy and crochet sheer gown, and never going out without some eclectic accessorizing or a statement novelty bag in the shape of a pizza or something.
Now, it looks like Lively is ready to settle into Blake Lively Fall. Stepping out yesterday (September 5) for a Glossy Pop event at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where the actor and Blake Brown haircare founder participated in an onstage discussion about the beauty industry, Lively leaned into the season’s most sumptuous tones. She wore a chocolate-colored two-piece suit from Huishan Zhang’s resort 2026 collection, comprising a chunky-buttoned blazer and a pleated midi skirt for a ’60s-esque silhouette, with black and silver embellished broaches pinned to her lapel. Underneath, she wore a sheer mesh and crystal top, also part of the Huishan Zhang look, and stepped into brown suede Christian Louboutin platform boots with witchy button details. Lively accessorized with a diamond-shaped choker, a stack of bracelets, chunky gold rings, and a quilted burgundy, navy, black and cream Chanel bag.
Lively is a longtime fan of Zhang, and previously stepped out in a dusty pink pleated trench from the brand. The Chinese-born, London-based designer regularly shows at London Fashion Week with an abundance of elegant, assuredly statement-making dresses and romantic shapes, worn most recently by Downton Abbey’s Sophie McShera at the film’s world premiere and Gugu Mbatha-Raw to the premiere of Fuze at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In terms of glam, she kept to her usual formula, wearing her hair in side-parted waves with a clay-colored eyeshadow and glossy pink lip.
While most of Lively’s greatest spring and summer fashion hits have delighted in her love of sparkles, colors, and bold accessories, the self-styled Blake Lively fall fashion switch-up signals something that nods to the universe of Gilmore Girls, Charmed, and even a bit of Hocus Pocus. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Lively ensemble without that big statement bag or a sheer, mesh texture. The trend for brown isn’t going anywhere this fall, and the Louboutin renaissance among celebrities only seems to be doubling down.
Whether she’s firmly out for fall or may disappear again until she’s debuting a deep winter look, you can trust Blake Lively to Lively-up a season’s trends, her way.
