So far, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour has been a fabulous family affair. Daughters Rumi and Blue Ivy have each made cameos on the stage as her backup (and front-of-stage, per Blue for “Déjà Vu!”) dancers. It’s also been seven-year-old Rumi’s onstage debut.

At the same time, Bey’s mother Tina Knowles is in the midst of her own nine-city tour for her now best-selling memoir Matriarch. And thanks to the mother and daughter’s shared city stopovers in Los Angeles, they were able to make a magic moment on stage last night.

On May 1, Beyoncé took a moment to welcome her oldest and youngest daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter, and mother Tina up with her on the stage at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

“Today is a big day, because my mother, who worked so hard on her book…She has the number one book on the New York Times Best Seller list,” Beyoncé told the audience.

“Everybody please say, ‘Congratulations Mama T,’” she said—the audience in their thousands, of course, obliging. Tina and Blue beamed, while Rumi jumped around the stage and hugged her mother, sister, and grandmother.

As much as the evening was a super cute family moment, it was also a fashionable affair. Barely into the tour, we’ve seen Bey—styled by Shiona Turini, Ty Hunter, and Karen Langley—wearing custom looks from designers and houses that revel in the glamorous westerncore aesthetic she’s cultivated: A white Mugler bodysuit with fringing, chaps, and a classic brimmed cowboy hat; a Roberto Cavalli denim-printed and gold buckled catsuit; A sequin and plaid Burberry suit. Another Burberry look for her performance of “Protector” saw both Bey and Blue Ivy in blue and green check, Swarovski-studded plaid, while Rumi wore gold Oscar de la Renta.

On stage with her family last night, Bey wore a Loewe crystal white and black-piped cowboy shirt and a flowing ruby red check skirt, with flaming thigh high cowboy boots. Blue Ivy wore a draped golden gown with a caped top and flowing maxi skirt, while Rumi wore a gilded, pale gold tea dress with short sleeves. Miss Tina wore a sparkling gold dress with an interlocking waist buckle.

Knowles’ book Matriarch—of which an exclusive excerpt lives on Vogue—is an intimate, candid story told across multiple generations of family, injected with her wisdom and stories of empowerment, Black motherhood, loss, heartbreak, perseverance, and ambition.

Tina’s tour has also been high on the fashions, with former First Lady Michelle Obama calling in to her book event in Washington, D.C. Both women stuck to a similar dress code of black and sequins glam. Knowles opted for an asymmetrical dress studded with rhinestones and a pair of sheer black gloves, while Obama wore a sturdily shouldered, black satin double-breasted Alexander McQueen suit.

Beyoncé’s 32-stop tour will continue to travel across the U.S. and Europe—it’s the second act of her three-part musical project, following up her cultural juggernaut, the 2023 Renaissance tour.
