Selena Gomez is no stranger to setting trends with her nails, shoes, and clothing—and, of course, her hair. Her bob haircut has been an integral part of her aesthetic since she debuted it last year, proving that ‘90s-inspired haircuts are nothing less than au courant.

Hair is like an accessory: the way it’s styled can elevate even the most casual look. Naturally, Gomez knows this, too: In Los Angeles a few days ago with husband Benny Blanco, she paired a relaxed white t-shirt, slouchy cardigan, and black pants with a bob that was ever-so-touseled, the ends loosely curled under.

The ‘90s bob, revisited

In the ‘90s, stars like Salma Hayek and Jennifer Aniston favored the inward-curled bob for its effortless movement and volume. It worked perfectly with the decade’s minimalist glamour.

The concept continues to feel relevant today. In addition to Gomez, celebrities like Gracie Abrams and Lily Collins have established the bob with inward-curled ends as part of their personal trademarks.

It’s not just celebrities who are inviting us to crop our hair for spring, either. On the runways, models at Jil Sander, Willy Chavarria, and Coach achieved the nostalgic look with the help of a round brush, emphasizing the versatility of the cut.
