Jenna Ortega is no denim devotee. Sure, she attended Jonathan Anderson’s Dior debut in an itty bitty denim skirt, but it’s rare to see the Wednesday actor in a pair of classic blue jeans, with her gothic glam press tour wardrobe prioritizing lots of leather and lace.
Last night, Ortega attended a Netflix event in New York City, where temperatures are in freefall as the autumnal season sets in. Stepping out into the chilly streets, Ortega wrapped up in a Seroya charcoal gray wool coat with big lapels that cinched at the waist. (Cozy cool outerwear is a must right now, see Jennifer Lawrence for ref). Underneath, she wore a slate colored turtleneck and cuffed, dark blue denim jeans that she had cuffed extra long. For shoes and accessories, Ortega opted for black leather gloves and sky-high black platform heels. Her hair was in an on-trend, emo-ish side part.
Given that Jenna Ortega is a petite 5’1, the noughties cuffed denim trend is a smart choice for looking stylish without being swallowed up—one that the actor might have rediscovered from attending Givenchy’s spring 2026 show at Paris Fashion Week, where Sarah Burton sent a pair down the runway. Denim also played a huge part in the Dior and Ann Demuelemeester shows that Ortega also would have been taking in. An over-the-told fold comes petite-girl approved (best worn with gargantuan platform shoes like Ortega), but everyone from Anne Hathaway to Bella Hadid has shown their love for this denim style. It feels fall-ready too, avoiding the terror of rain-splashed and roughed-up hems.
It’s quite the week for more nostalgic styles from Ortega; just yesterday, she rolled it back to 2007 in a pinstripe vest a la Fergie and Avril. As elevated as ever, though, as this was a Ann Demeulemeester fall 2025 tailored waistcoat and matching wide-legged, floor-skimming trousers.
Often styled by Enrique Melendez, Ortega has established a sensual, darkly romantic style across the last year: a shredded dress via GapStudio, a reptilian skin-like Ashi Studio gown, mall goth boots on the beach. Ortega has stayed committed to the fashions of the night and the doorways of Hot Topic.
While cuffed jeans in their original iteration leaned more boho, Jenna Ortega proves the style can shift sexy and sophisticated, and be something to consider adding to your own fall denim rotation.
