Gloves have been everywhere lately, from Vogue World: London to the Fendi runway. But while the gloves du jour have been longer, Madelyn Cline is making a case for ditching the opera length in favor of tiny, minimal coverage mitts.
The Glass Onion actor attended Matthew Williams’s spring 2024 Givenchy show today in Paris in a black leather knee-length dress. The look was marked by its asymmetry; the high-necked dress has sheer cutouts running diagonally across the body and a neckline cut on the same axis, leaving one of Cline’s shoulders bare and the other sheathed in a short sleeve.
Cline finished off her Matrix-esque look with a slicked back bun, a pair of wraparound Givenchy shades, chunky silver ear cuffs, and a pair of stappy black patent leather slingback heels. But what really pulled her it all together were her minuscule gloves: although they didn’t cover her entire hand, the gloves’ long leather cords snaked up her wrists, tying off at her forearms and leaving the slack to dangle by her side.
The futuristic ensemble was a big departure for the Outer Banks star, who started her day in Paris in a much softer look. Cline made her first stop of the day at Rabanne’s spring 2024 ready-to-wear show, where she wore a light purple maxi. The ruched long-sleeved dress was made entirely of lace, while the hips and bust were shrouded in a darker lavender jersey printed with red flowers.
Cline is a longtime Tommy Hilfiger ambassador, but recently edged into high fashion when she attended this year’s Met Gala as Stella McCartney’s guest. In this sleek, leathery look, Madelyn Cline is on the verge of becoming a full-fledged fashion girl. If anyone can lead the charge on behalf of tiny gloves, it’s her.
