Taylor Swift’s festive outfit formulas tend to revolve around the same key pieces: statement tights, something plaid, multiple mini-skirts, knee-high boots. Expect Alaïa knit bodysuits and Louis Vuitton coats. Yesterday evening, Swift saw the opportunity to revamp her showgirl style for the holidays, and double down on her seasonal color palette: The Life of a Showgirl meets Folklore fall.
The Eras star appeared yesterday on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, wearing a sculptural, red velvet mini dress by David Koma. The off-the-shoulder dress featured a pointed wing-like neckline—and she wore it sans tights! Swift styled it with wine red Aquazzura stilettos, an 18-karat diamond and opal bracelet (sourced from Memphis-based Danes Road Antiques), a vintage 18k gold, ruby, and diamond necklace, and of course, her engagement ring from her fiancé Travis Kelce. She swept her hair up into a classic chignon with a feathered, side parted set of bangs. Appearing on the talk show for the first time in four years, it was a simple, elegant, party season-primed look.
Indulging in a wintry palette, Swift has very much staked her claim on the dark and sumptuous shade of burgundy—several shades darker than the Kansas City Chiefs tone of cherry red. Hosting a screening of her forthcoming The End of an Era tour documentary series earlier this week, Swift paired her dark red Calzedonia tights with a black knit bodysuit and gray-red check Miu Miu mini skirt.
Swift held an intimate advance screening of the first two episodes of the six part series, where she described her almost two-year-long, 149-show tour as “a lifetime within my life.”
“There’s a lot of magic and mystery that happens when something goes as well as this [tour] did,” Swift addressed to guests, which included Eras dancers, singers, choreographers, band members, and styling team.
The cozy season color combos keep coming, where in another appearance, Swift stepped out in chocolate suede Christian Louboutin boots with those red bottoms, coordinating with her signature red lip.
It’s a busy week for Swift, who drops the first two episodes of her documentary on Disney Plus this coming Friday December 12. The next two episodes will arrive the following Friday December 19, and the final two episodes on December 26.
Swift also celebrates her 36th birthday on Saturday December 13. Rest assured that a table at Chez Margaux or Corner Store is booked and the outfit merrily mapped out.
While the Life of a Showgirl era is still very much in full wing, Taylor Swift can’t resist the mulled wine glow, or the cozy embrace of Folklore fall.
