Balenciaga Spring 2014 Ready to Wear

I think everyone was impressed

by how respectful Alexander Wang was

of Cristobal Balenciaga s legacy

on his first outing for the house.

With his second one, there s still the respect,

but there s a little more Wang this time.

Well, I think he s so respectful of the brand.

I think a very good point he s making taking really

the DNA of the brand and translate it in a modern way.

Animated, like very Parisian chic.

I feel more a Parisian woman here that is very classy.

You could see a little bit more of himself emerging

in some of the sportier shapes towards the beginning,

the little cropped tanks and the super A-line skirts,

which had a little bit of a sporty street feel to me.

I loved that.

I thought it was a really powerful show.

It s full of amazing ideas.

From the very first outfit, there s a sort of incredible

sporty raffia pieces, all the way through to the end.

I really like the statement of the shorts.

The very constructed little silhouette is really beautiful.

And the loose jackets, of course, I love.

The evening little bubble dresses are so pretty.

There are things to wear, things to sell,

and it sounds rather basic,

but that s what we like to see, clothes.

Clothes for women, how women live now, school gates,

school mum run, the divorcee, the rich older lady.

It s all there, with amazing legs, with fabulous legs.

The evening looks were strong.

I love the idea of wearing just a jacket at night

and leaving my pants at home.

I think a lot of girls who follow Alexander and Balenciaga

will be into that idea, too, sexy.

It was beautiful, beautiful.

I love the shoe as well.

That little edge like of lingerie

on the shoe was interesting.

I think it was almost overwhelming

how many ideas there were.

There is a new generation of young designers

who are just so prolific with what they come up with.

They make it look easy.
