This little patch of forest here

is supposed to represent the woodland in which

the Hugo Boss campus sits in it s home city in Germany.

You might say it s a little bit of the essence of the brand,

and that s what Jason Wu was after

with his first collection for the label today.

A lot of it really came from the campus,

like, the architectural-meets-nature idea,

So, the hard and soft balance, and just the idea

of bringing embellishment into their world,

was quite interesting for me, because I do that

a lot for my own collection and I wanted to bring

that forth so that it felt authentic to Hugo Boss.

[Interviewer] A very different side

of Jason Wu in that collection.

One that I really liked.

That sort of very clean tailoring.

I mean, it s faultless in a way.

Quite severe.

True, but also clean, and I think, in that sense

can make for some strong building blocks for the brand.

I thought it was a really interesting challenge

as my first time designing for a different brand,

outside of my own collection,

to surprise people a bit, perhaps, and to show a

different side of my design sensibility.

I feel he wanted to really be very simple.

Told me a great coat and dress story,

with really expensive fabrics, quiet luxury, looked great.

I thought some of the evening-wear was really beautiful.

Some of the sort of, more androgynous pieces were really

interesting, a sort of bit of masculinity in the trouser

and jacket combos, great shoes, great handbags.

My outfit is kind of a classic bit of men s

tailoring done to perfection.

Super classy, beautifully cut.

Something you can t go wrong with.

What the company excels at is making

a beautifully-tailored suit, and the engineering

ability from weaving the fabrics to developing the hardware,

is immense, and I wanted to use that, and then channel

that into the clothes, but at the end of it all

I had to be feminine.

Are you exhausted from having done those

two shows in one week?

Actually exhilarated because it s kind of been

a marathon and kind of bring on another one.

Yeah, I m ready, I m ready for the next collections.
