Versace Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear

You might think that with a design signature

as clearly defined as Versace s, there isn t a lot to add,

but Donatella did find some new things to say

with her latest collection.

I loved the show because Donatella was kind of

stepping into new territory with her colors.

There was a Petrol blue that I d never seen before.

Petrol blue, dark red, white and black, and a hint of

topaz sometimes, but mostly it s dark red, and petrol,

which are two colors that I never use before,

but I love it.

It was important that she showed that Versace

can also make suits and that there s tailoring

tradition in the house.

The show is about everything cut on the bias.

All the dresses are gonna be bias cut.

Day dresses, skirts, evening dresses, cocktail dresses.

I never did a collection based on these cuts,

but I need to give a little bit of toughness.

That s why there is a hint of military.

It s like fairy tale moment.

Yes, fairy tale, yeah.

If you like a little hint of buttons

or antique uniform.

The (mumbles), which we bought it a long time ago.

The accessories rocked.

They had passementerie, a very French thing in my experience

but they did it in a kind of golden thread,

I m sure they ll sell.

They had these enamel bracelets,

with (mumbles) big statement things, but they look good.

You do show you really are a luxury brand,

and the craftsmanship, I think only Vitaly can do.

There is a jacket for example, in cashmere

with (mumbles) skin (mumbles),

and (mumbles) with leather and suede.

She s found a line of her Versace girls again.

Now you have this German girl Anna Avis,

who opened the show, who opened the couture,

who looks very, very Versace.

The darker eyes, the not-too-much-makeup,

it was kind of a modern glamour

of a self-confident Versace,

that five years ago you wouldn t have recognized.

This is all about doing the things

you ve never done before this collection.

That s exciting and of-fi-ci-al you know,

try new things.
