For many, church shoes immediately draw to mind something uncomfortable, stiff, and most definitely made of patent leather. But is there a world in which they can be chic? Hailey and Justin Bieber are certainly making the case.
Last night, the Biebers attended a Beverly Hills service at their celebrity-friendly, Millennial-coded house of worship, Churchome. The outing came after Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin, raised some eyebrows when he posted an Instagram story imploring Christians to pray for the couple.
Hailey wore an outfit that could be rocked equally as hard by a young boy at Sunday School. She wore a canary yellow argyle sweater with baggy, oversized jeans, and yellow-lensed sunglasses. Justin, on the other hand, opted for a simple look: beige slacks, a black hoodie (hood up, naturally), and a black scarf.
Although they are known for their polar opposite styles, the Biebers were on the same page about their footwear. Hailey donned a pair of kitten-heeled Loewe penny loafers, which she previously wore out to a November dinner with Zoë Kravitz. Justin, also choosing a pair of the classic shoes, gave himself a boost in some lug-sole Guccis. While they both have a proclivity for unconventional church-wear, Hailey and Justin Bieber’s loafers would probably fly in any house of worship.
