Senator-Elect John Fetterman and his wife, Gisele, are celebrating their recent hard-fought victory for a key senate seat in Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, Gisele Fetterman uploaded a photo of her and her husband in front of the politician’s office, with a freshly minted sign that read “Senator-Elect John Fetterman.” Gisele captioned the triumphant photo with “First day 💙💙💙.”
The photo offers a possible glimpse at how the political power couple may be dressing from January 3 onwards. Gisele, who has co-founded multiple non-profit organizations, appears to have already adapted her funky and individualistic sense of style to the office. In the photo, she pairs a well-worn leather jacket with a navy blue dress, black leggings, and zip-up heel-boots. While Fetterman keeps things a bit more conventional, with a loose-fitted suit and soft-blue tie.
The photo seems to declare that, even after a campaign of near-constant attacks and smear campaigns, the two have emerged from the fight wholly intact and intent on remaining who they are. And all while supporting affordable and sustainable fashion. In a recent interview with Vogue, Gisele Fetterman shared that she has committed herself to wearing 90% used or recycled materials. She also tweeted today, “Also me a few hours into Senate spouse orientation … when someone said: I love your dress … Thanks, it’s thrifted! $12! "
Gisele seems to be having a busy week as a politician’s spouse already. Just this afternoon she uploaded another buzzy photo with Chasten Buttigeg, spouse of Secetary of Transportation Pete Buttigeg. “DC Bestie check in,” she wrote.
