Yeah, pinstriped nails.

You all have never seen this before,

so get into it. [fingers clicking]

[upbeat music]

What s up, you all?

It s Tyla, once again,

and it s my second Met Gala.

I m so excited, guys.

It s gonna be my year.

Last year s Met was insane,

so I know the pressure s on

but, like, [slaps fists]

nah, I m having fun this year.

So, my look, I m wearing a Jacquemus this year

and Law and I were inspired by Andre Leon Talley

and we just wanted a sexy, cute dress.

We played with the pinstripes, which is classic Dandy.

We just wanted it to feel like what it would look like

if I was just wearing one of Andre s shirts.

So, I have this yummy strawberry [chuckles]

blonde ash

little units that s gonna be plastered on my cap.

For glam, we have Pat McGrath Labs for makeup,

got Coca on the nails.

We got Law styling me for the first time,

so it s very exciting.

It s gonna be amazing.

And, yeah, the theme is hard,

everyone on the team is hard,

so we re gonna have a good time.

[gentle upbeat music]

I am here currently working on Tyla s hair

for the Met Gala today.

Well, let s talk about the theme.

Super fine, Tyla in black style.

That is mind blowing to me.

It s amazing.

And, it was something really exciting when I heard it.

I was like, I can t wait to do the Met Gala, you know,

and transform my girls into something, you know,

very black. [laughs]

As far as the look goes, like, I spoke to Law,

we had several meetings, we talked about the concept

and it s just fresh and it s very clean.

It s young.

It just felt like we needed to add some kind of, like,

masculinity to it because it s so feminine

and just, like, perfect and very tailored,

that I thought it would be great to go short

and throw it to the left and do the little blonde,

you know, to just kind of, like, add a little edge.

Something that Tyla s never done.

Tonight was, you know,

the perfect night to play a little bit.

What it means to me, honestly, it s just paying homage

to all the beautiful black women that were in Hollywood.

And, that was trying to make it in the industry

in the late 20s, the 50s, you know?

And, it s, like, tonight is a night to showcase,

you know, the excellence and the hard work

that they put in to allow girls like Tyla

to be on center stage, in front of millions of people,

and showcase her beauty and fashion.

Tonight is their night, as well as the dapper boys. [laughs]

She can pull it off, she can do it all.

So, you know, [laughs] I mean,

when you got face card don t decline, you can go blonde.

But, today we gonna keep it very clean and beautiful

and with a little bit of androgyny.

It was really nice for us to, like, talk

and, you know, [snaps fingers]

put our fashion senses together

and create this, like, you know, amazing concept

and here we are about to make it happen.

Make it come to fruition.

[Director] Was it in a group chat?

It was a group chat.

[Director] Okay. And,

I m not giving you the number.

[all laughing]

[gentle upbeat music]

I think this theme is special.

[hairspray sprays] Especially, like,

in terms of, like, where I m from in South Africa,

how Dandyism is, like, very relevant in our style too.

So, I really think it s a cool theme,

so I m excited to go to this one.

I ve had Bliss for a while,

so I m excited that it s coming out.

The song makes me cry every time.

I love it so much.

And, yeah, I previewed it at Coachella.

I wasn t supposed to, but I did,

and my Tigers love it, so I m happy.

I can t wait for it to be theirs now.

Coming out soon, soon, soon.

Play some Bliss.

[Yusef] Just give us some Bliss for-

[Assistant] It s fine.

[all laughing]

Great, I m on to it. Oh my God.

Get it together.

[gentle upbeat music]

When we were discussing with Tyla and all of the team

and once I saw the outfit and everything,

that s when I was, like, okay.

She was talking about being obsessed with vintage Hollywood.

So, we were looking at Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge,

Jean Harlow, all of those stars.

So, it is gonna be about a bit of a smoky eye.

We re playing with different sizes of lips.

We re still in the idea of

we re gonna test a couple of different lip looks.

And, just gorgeous glowing skin,

cause Tyla has the most incredible skin.

[gentle instrumental music]

Hi, it s Coca and I m doing Tyla s nails today

for the 2025 Met Gala.

We had this creative call, it was really fun to see

everybody bounce ideas off of each other.

Once I saw the pinstripe,

immediately I wanted to take inspiration from that.

And then, added an extra glam, cause Tyler loves,

you know, being glowy and doing something different always.

So, I wanted to elevate the look by adding texture.

[Tyla snaps fingers]

[gentle instrumental music]

Yusef got this tuna melt

[Yusef laughing]

on my [indistinct], and it s looking lovely.

I m so excited, this blonde is so hot.

Early on you had said you wanted the browns

and the honey tones

and it really works with the hair, doesn t it?

Like playing with the brown around the eyes,

but I love that we went with the brown lip like that.

Yeah. Didn t we, right?

Yeah. So I love

that we re doing just a gorgeous contoured lip

with a nice nude lipstick in it, right?

I love.

Yeah, I love it.

[Pat] You look so gorgeous.

Oh my word.

Law was calling me.

Yeah, we wanted to talk about the look.

I think we both were really inspired by Andre.

When we think about Dandy,

we re thinking about someone

who exudes excellence in fashion and takes risk

and taught us all so much.

For you to imagine that,

you know, had you had the chance to meet him

and him to be kind of like a grandfather to you

and to wrap you in one of his shirts, right?

I think that was just such a beautiful sentiment

and such a incredible way to pay homage to him.

I think what was also so important is that

for us to find a partner

in Jacquemus that was willing to listen to our vision

and collaborate and just to bring it to life

and to send his team that worked so hard

on every single small detail, just to make sure that,

you know, the dream was realized

and that you felt connected to the theme.

You know, I thought that was really, really beautiful.

And the look has to be topped off with Pandora.

I think the custom magnifying glass piece that they made

us was really creative.

All right, so I m gonna go get this dress put on me

and then I m gonna call you

when we re done. Yes.

And you re gonna see

the full- Okay.

Okay. Okay.

[Law] I ll see you soon.

I ll see you on the carpet.

Okay, I ll see you soon.

I m gonna go get dressed now.

So bye-bye.

[woman gasps] [man screams]

[all cheer]

[Tyla screams]

[Yusef] It s the Dandy queen.

So this is the look, the Dandy queen.

So it s hair by Yusef.

Makeup by Pat McGrath.

Jewelry by Pandora.

Jacquemus and Law literally magic team.

Thank you guys so much.

Now let s go.

Let s go party.

[upbeat music]

Bye-bye, Vogue.

I ll see you on the carpet.

[upbeat music]

[upbeat music continues]
