And to why I m so calm because I don t have to stress,

I m not in competition.

I m just here as Whoopi Goldberg, old as hell,

but happy to be alive,

you know what I mean? [group laughing]

[gentle groovy music]

[cars tires rumbling] [gentle groovy music]

So obviously, I looked up your makeup for red carpet

just like what you ve been doing lately.

[Whoopi giggling]

cause at the Oscars, you wear a little eyeliner, no,

a little liner, a little lip?

I mean, I used to do the black lipstick,

but I don t do that anymore cause it s too harsh on me now.

You get all, you can t wear stuff like that [laughing]

cause it doesn t look good on your skin.

It doesn t look good,

it looks too harsh. It s too intense?

Yeah, yeah.

No lips, no blue eyeliner.

[Whoopi laughing]

Let s get moisturize on you, do a little skin.

[pictures snapping] [slow gentle music]

We had a couple different plans,

but we saw a hat

that really felt like it spoke to the moment.

So right now,

we re just basically going ahead

and giving the hair a little body.

These rollers,

and they like to give the hair a little bend

so the hair doesn t look so flat.

It gives it a little oomph to it,

so that s what we basically go for.

To see other people

and what their interpretation is gonna be

is gonna be very interesting, yes!

[Whoopi] Stuff moves slowly, but it s moving.

When minorities feel under attack,

you at least have these moments

where someone makes you feel seen,

and on such a huge stage and huge level as the men,

Oftentimes,

people are told they re not on the list

of what is considered attractive.

We have to look around and say,

Well, you have always been here,

you have always been super fine.

And everyone else learns

from what you are putting out there.

I think I m super fine.

Everybody in this room is super fine.

The first time I came, I came with Andre Leon Talley,

so I am channeling him.

He was always very, very cool and very ready.

I m kinda cool, and kinda ready,

and just here to have a good time, make Tom proud of me.

He called instantly and said, Can I dress you?

And I was like, Sure.

And I said,

I don t wanna know what you re doing, just do it,

and he s done it, and it s rather lovely.

[Jennifer] Andre Leon Talley was the dandy-

He was the dandy. and the epitome.

His idea was that we all carry our dandiness with us.

Janelle Monae, Coleman Domingo, Ham,

look at all of these folks

who have brought their own definition of what that means

and what fashion means.

People get to say,

And here are the people that made me want to do this,

made me feel like I could do this,

and be who I wanted to be.

[gentle groovy music]

Black Superfine,

it captures the ability to use the least amount of resources

and make literally a movement that s now a Met exhibit.

Thom Browne called my phone, and I was like,

How did you get my number? [interviewer laughing]

I have a collaboration that I wanna work on for the Met,

and I would love for you guys to be involved.

And he s been championing

and rooting for us the whole way.

A full circle moment would be that we ve been fans

of Whoopi since we were children.

She s an icon to us;

The ability to be able to create things for her.

We re gonna see some works from our collection.

This ring is part of a collection called the Astral World,

where we re creating these beings that tell the story

of the soul being this extra terrestrial

and landing in the body.

Whoopi is the first person to wear it,

so that s an honor too.

Whoopi is also gonna wear Midas touch finger caps.

These are always fun, look at that.

[pictures snapping] [gentle chiming music]

Gorgeous.

Let s take

a quick picture of us. Did they put [indistinct]

Right now? You could do it right now.

[Whoopi giggling] Got it.

Looks on that pose.

One of the things that I really like the most about

my career is that there s nothing that I m tired of,

there s nothing I m sick of.

I m glad I got to do stuff that people

are still singing a thousand years later. [laughing]

[gentle groovy music]

This one definitely a pinky.

[group laughing]

[gentle groovy music]

My fingers fit in the things they re supposed to be in,

and it s quite wonderful.

[gentle groovy music]

Like that?

Yeah, I like it.

[gentle groovy music]

I love it.

[gentle groovy music]

Yes, this is me on my way to the Med Ball.

[Jennifer] No glasses, but...

I am ready.

[applauding] Ready. This is Whoop on her way

to the Med Ball.

[laughing] Whoop. Whoop!

I m a baller, y all.

[group laughing]

[people chattering] [bright groovy music]

[Photographer 1] Yes, Whoopi!

[Photographer 2] Whoopi, that s right!

[Photographer 3] Let s go, I like the swag to it, Whoopi!
