Watch: At Dior, Teddy Girls Take Center Stage

For Fall 2019, Maria Grazia Chiuri looked to the 1950s, a significant time in Dior’s history, but she passed up the strictness of haute couture in favor of Teddy Girls in London and the street smarts of post-war dressing.

Hey American Vogue, its Selena here backstage at Dior

and its going to be a great show.

Hi this is Peter Philips we re backstage at Dior

fall winter 2019 look we went for London mod 60 s inspired

teddy girl look. It focuses on the eyes, so we started

off with a very natural skin, I use Dior backstage

face and body foundation. You must have for beautifying.

Add a little bit of glow, I just combined the pearl and

the gold. Dior Addicts Stellar Shine, this is a nice

beautiful rosewood. I didn t do too much, I just, one

thin film to give that beautiful hydrating lovely shine.

And then to focus on the eyes, like this really fab eye

line in matte black, on the eyelids. I asked the girls to,

when it was still wet, to look up and down, and I filed

in all the way until it left a mark. And drew under the

eye, kind of graphic, almost like a cartoon style.

Lots of fake lashes to give that 60 s Polly Magoo

inspired make up look but more like a cartoon.

I think Maria Grazia promotes being strong, being

masculine and feminine at the same time. She just

always tries to make us women feel powerful.
