Behind-the-Scenes of Rodarte’s Spectacular Return to NYFW

Hi Vogue, I m Laura.

Hi, I m Kate.

It s the last day of fittings before our show,

which is tomorrow.

When we started this collection we were

strangely enough looking

at a lot of Picasso paintings,

listening to Kate Bush.

The idea of the artistic spirit

and individuality,

just seemed very present in our minds.

We live in California,

so there s a lot of gardens

and we have a lot of roses at our house.

I think our collections

are always inspired by natural elements.

So it comes in,

but I think that we re really inspired

by the idea of these growing shapes.

So whether it s in a hat,

or it s in like,

hems of these ruffled tool capes;

I think we really wanted to just show things

that looked like they were blossoming.

I love it.

We re getting there.

and we just did the walk through,

and it s raining like cats and dogs.
