Censorship on the internet is a strange starting point

for the new Balmain collection.

But it all boils down to sex, which is,

after all, what Balmain is all about.

What brought you to a point where you felt

like commenting on the fact that there s this

censorship element of sexuality on the internet?

I think music is talking to a lot of people

more than fashion, you know, and sometimes

you forget that fashion can be pop, and pop culture.

Like me, I m inspired by the 90s fashion show

when you remember Naomi, Claudia,

they were talking to people to a population.

And I think sometime fashion forget that

you can talk to an elite but you can still talk

to population and there s nothing bad about it.

And I think sexiness is something that people wanna see,

and there s no shame about it.

My sentence for this collection was:

Express yourself don t repress yourself.

It was a really good show.

I loved the sexiness and the clean. Very futuristic way.

I just wanna wear the jumper with all the Swarovski,

that fashion spaceship.

Kinda 80s, though I feel like a little bit Studio 54

at the same time, with the jumpsuits, the jersey.

All the glitz, the glamour.

[Tim] This collection felt very streamlined to me.

The use of plisse; it s new for you.

It s very chic and very elongated.

When I decide to work on sexiness I want to work

on see-through, and I think as a designer I wanted

to work on fluidity like you can see pants,

you can see plastic jacket in the same time

more constructed you can see knit.

I push my boundaries as a designer

I think working with sexy was not

all about just doing short dress.

You could just play with sexy in a different way

and that s what I wanted to show to the people.

It was definitely easier.

It was sleeker and more tailored.

But I think it s still appealing to that fun,

over-the-top, I have a great body I wanna show it off,

I m going to party tonight, I m not coming home

before it gets light, you know.

It s not girl that s going home at 10 pm

to get an early night.

I start really young and I think I didn t want

to assume political statement or expression of myself.

When you start really young you just want to try

to please to everybody and after three years

I think I try to please to myself

and I think that s the best for me today.
