Just the innovation.

It s not hard to see why Shayne Oliver s

made such a big impact with Hood By Air.

He s not afraid to make big statements

about things like power and powerlessness,

and it s encouraging to see how he s been embraced

by the fashion mainstream for his fearlessness.

It s interesting that you feel something political

about this show because we don t

think anything political in fashion anymore.

If all along the premise of HBA has been freedom,

to introduce so much restraint into this collection

was really a very, very powerful counterpoint.

Yeah, for me, I was sort of looking

at the freedom within, acknowledging the constraints

and realizing what holds you down

and what may have ahold of you,

and I think that that s, like, the first step

to becoming free.

I know Shayne so well, so I just know how he thinks,

and I m like, He just nailed it!

Just big accessories, the leather gloves,

like the garters but for, like, your hands.

(Interviewer) What does that say to you?

I m free!

That s why I think it s some

of the best American fashion maybe ever.

Somehow this is like a combination

of like American sportswear

with like this European sensibility that s in line

with Margiela and Helmut Lang.

I feel like every collection is like one opportunity

to, like, best illustrate what I wanna say,

so I don t wanna play games.

I m just, like, Okay, well, let s go there.

This new style is about surviving

in a violent, disgusting planet.

Fashion should express this opposition to the future.

We don t want this future they re saying us.
