Christian Dior: Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear

[hip hop beats]

I don t know fashion so well,

but when I see a show like that,

I think that Christian Dior would be very proud.

[upbeat music]

This unprepossessing vista is the backstage area

of the Christian Dior show.

Now you hardly need a greater incentive to

dream the fashion dream than that.

Fortunately that s what John Galliano gives us

season after season.

We have inspiration from Africa.

The brows are pulled and extended

to make the brows feline and strong.

It s multi-tribal.

We build these structures all night,

so we haven t slept.

And then we just start crimping the hair

and wrapping it around until we get that shape.

[Interviewer] What do you expect when you come each time?

Insanity: but like well controlled insanity.

[Interviewer] Where was this girl going today

in this show?

Tribal chic.

Taking inspiration from my memories and travels in Africa.

The colors, the scarve-ga-tio-nal leathers.

All those inspirations.

[Interviewer] And then adding a little bit

of the decadent west.

That s me [laughs].

[Eva Green] Look at the hair dos,

it s completely mad.

[Interviewer] Maasai.

And Maasai, yes that s true.

It s very sci-fi.

The hair was a bit, Star Trek, one of the alien girls

or something.

But like then the look was totally chic of this world.

[laughing]

[tribal music]

I thought it was really cool.

Very lolita, 70s, lot of air.

I think it had a lot of energy and sex appeal,

and he knows how to give it an edge.

It was very restrained I would say

for like John s normal sort of style,

but still it was wearable,

which I think is different for John too.

It s like do a show where it is wearable.

[rock music]

Love the heels.

[Interviewer] Those African, the tribal heels.

That was great.

[Male] Very tiki.

The look to me it really [mumbles] to the shell embroidery

which was quite new for me do as well.

Not only does it look really pretty,

but it makes such pretty sound.

[rock music]

[Katy Perry] This is my first Dior show.

I m very happy to be attending.

[Interviewer] Do you see yourself in those clothes?

Yes, of course.

The set is a very abstract forest.

As the girls come on you ll see them through the trees.

It was just a sort of modern atmosphere

for a collection that sort of has

overtones of sort of tribal patterns and themes to it.

This show today is very

[speaks in foreign language].

Beautiful, classic and rock n roll.

He mixes so well all those things that makes a woman happy.
