[Tom] For me when I think of Marni,
she has a lot of character and she s very playful.
Makeup is something playful.
So, obviously, we see some pink hair
maybe we will see a pink eyebrow.
[Tim] Another bun. Another bun.
This one was inspired by circles
in the pattern of clothes.
So, we did a ball
in the back.
[Tom] I think it s a very very powerful collection.
And I have to say,
if I was a fetish,
I would go for the shoes.
They are incredible.
[Tim] It s striking how often people
mention the word intelligence
when they re talking about the Marni collection.
I guess that s because Consuelo Castiglioni
gives us so much food for thought.
[upbeat electrical music]
Craziness.
[chuckles]
Everything that the kitchen sink exuberant.
[Virginie] I was wondering
to which point
a human eye can bear
to see so many colors, prints, all together
on one look.
[Anne] Stripes with argyle
with polka dots.
Almost like the Marc Jacobs show was in New York
that it s really an eyeful.
[Lucinda] The thing about Marni is it s totally wearable.
Those see-through nylon trousers with pants showing,
that s the occasional acception.
[Tim] What does the appetite for sheer clothing mean?
Newspaper pictures.
[Nicole] That idea that
there are cameras around us
we re all taking pictures all the time.
There s a sense that
maybe there s no privacy anymore.
[Vanessa] The stripes in knit t-shirts
with the tuxedo ruffle down the front
and the zipper was poor boy meets evening meets
techno something.
[Tim] The jewelry, the stockings, the shoes --
you need to wear the whole lot all in one.
Well, I think if you do,
you ll look totally mad and wonderful and eccentric.
At the end, you re a work of art.
[Lucinda] Sometimes when the girls walk in
and they wear it, I look at them and I say to Consuelo,
if a woman walked in to a restaurant like that,
wouldn t you just think that she was the most
intelligent, wonderful, interesting human being
in the whole world?
[Tim] At least you never have to worry about
whether things are matching.
No, anything goes.
[electric music]
[Vanessa] She was able to combine textures
and prints in pieces,
which taking apart, I do think would hold up on their own.
[Nicole] It was really great to watch the transition how
those color block plaids at the beginning
morphed into those amazing sequin
piette designs at the end.
It was happy and it was optimistic
and it was original
and it was interesting.
[Lucinda] In the present climate, when things are tricky,
you have to make clothes that women
fall in love with and can t do without.
I think now is the time to bring on the pleasure.
