It s the mark of a great designer

that he can take a handful of extraordinary influences

and weave his own story out of them.

Mr. Paine is clearly one of a rare breed.

[relaxed rhythmic music]

We re doing strong, powerful.

A little bit of Amazonian.

A little bit prehistoric women.

It s very much about their sort of bone structure.

A little bit Sumerian.

[relaxed rhythmic music]

[Tim] It s not often you walk into a fashion show

and Lucia the makeup artist

tells you we re going for a Sumerian look with the makeup.

Get a little bit of monkey in there.

Get a little chimpanzee.

They really want to stick it

to the very Planet of Apes feeling

of future but very prehistoric.

[rhythmic music]

[Tim] The theme, the inspiration,

prehistoric women on the run

from gorillas and dinosaurs.

I think you d run very fast from dinosaurs in those shoes.

They re incredible.

[rhythmic music]

[Tim] Designers are funny

with their inspirations, aren t they?

Yeah, and it s worrying.

I mean it takes two or three months

of really going through every possibility, you know.

The gown feeling, the head feeling.

And, essentially, if you can come up

with something simple and yet visionary.

Very interesting.

[rhythmic music]

There s a thread running through the whole collection.

It s incredibly focused.

Incredibly well executed.

There was two more explicit references

to the Planet of the Apes

in the two dresses that came out

with a kind of roaring gorilla mouth.

But that was it.

It was just beautifully done.

[rhythmic music]

Think it s good to just change and experiment.

And pressure s always going

because it keeps showing straight and narrow.

You want to better yourself.

People are always opinionated

and always with their opinions.

Some people love it, some people hate it.

[rhythmic music]

[Tim] I take it you like the show.

I love the show.

I thought it was a really big, bold statement

and really well done.

[rhythmic music]

What I liked about it

is the simplicity and yet the individuality mixed

which was extraordinary.

He did a very good job.
