I thought that was a wonderful show, very dramatic.

All that red light, smoky bubbles, incredible.

What an astonishing and talented man.

And come. How did it happen?

From Peckham!

[upbeat jazz music]

So with silent movie actresses

such as Mary Pickford, Pola Negri.

And then we also have the great Norma Desmond.

John Galliano introduction, take one.

Take two, take three.

The invitation to Galliano s show is a prelude

to the cinematic inspiration for the collection.

[upbeat electronic music]

It was inspired by a trip to Los Angeles

and visiting those fabulous, fabulous houses

and imagining who would live there.

And that started the narrative.

And I was kinda playing with the idea

of this screenwriter s strike

that went on for maybe half a century.

So by the time she surfaced, that s how she looked. [laughs]

♪ Oh ♪

[Tim] The story that the show

was telling was so strong.

You coulda gone a number of ways with the music.

The show was like about an hour late

and so we actually didn t get the decision on what to do

until about an hour and a half ago. [laughs]

There s no one color.

Its just the fabrics and the bead work and the chiffon

with another layer underneath,

the spots coming through in the lace.

And you just wanna touch, don t you?

The Galliano collections are getting lighter and lighter,

and the challenge is to make them

as light as the bubbles you saw.

[Tim] Your headgear was a story all on its own.

Yeah, well, John never just sketches a dress.

He always thinks of the complete outfit.

The idea of designing something

without a hat is inconceivable.

He said just a couple of days ago,

I couldn t imagine not wearing a hat every day.

I d feel undressed.

[Tim] He s got very good at adding clothes

to the mix of the fantasy.

It isn t just the fantasy, it s actually reality as well.

And believe me, when you wear those dresses,

they make you feel incredible.

You look amazing and you feel amazing.

He s magical.
