It s very rare that you see me in a frilly dress

but I like that fact that it s frilly yet leather,

and it s got that touch of as he said, danger.

Valentino has always been a romantic label,

but the label s new designers,

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli

are putting a darker spin on that romance

with the latest collection.

The theme of the collection is a fairytale gone wrong.

Fragile and delicate girl walking

in an enchanted garden but it s a little dark.

And she s delicate and pretty

but she s dangerous too.

They love the old and new environment,

they reach to create on Valentino,

after so much strength, that the strength

to take it off being still Valentino.

[Tim] It s a huge challenge isn t it?

[Bruno] Yeah, yeah, great delivery.

[Tim] But I love this idea,

you see a dress which looks quite fragile with flowers

but it s actually black leather.

[Pier] Black leather meets chiffon.

Two different source meets

and they create a new kind of attitude.

It s amazing to see a collection that feels so Valentino

in its essence but had no red,

completely new proportions, new fabrications.

There s definitely a lot more youth in the brand.

Ruffles meets leather meets chiffon,

so this new aesthetic made of different things together.

Things that shouldn t go together

Yeah. Yeah.

[Tim] There is this sort of dialog

between the soft and the hard.

Let s not underestimate the fact

that people turn to Valentino for amazing party dresses,

so the frills make sense.

[Maria] The shoes we have collaborated with Philip Treacy.

Because we like also to work with other artist.

It s the first time I ve made shoes,

it s an interesting experience.

[Tim] Are you surprised

at how adept you are at making shoes?

[Philip] I m just surprised they asked,

and I m surprised how interesting it was.

The fashion is beautiful but the shoes

just like laterally took my breath away.

[Tim] I get the impression it s almost like a movie,

we re like the garden of the Finzi-Continis or something.

There s a sort of moonlike dream in these clothes.

A collection is like a film for us.

When we start it s like a trip.

[Tim] And one day you ll make a film?

[laughing]

I don t know.

Would love.
