Getting Ready With Glenn Close

I was gonna laugh like Carella for those little girls

but I ve, I ve made children cry doing that.

So I don t do it anymore.

Hello, I m Glenn Close.

Hello, Vogue.

And come on in

and watch me get ready for my very first Met Gala.

I m very, very honored to be dressed this evening

by Pierpaolo, who is the head designer of Valentino,

and he has made this exquisite cape and the shoes.

I m very happy that I ve had a little practice

in walking on shoes like this, especially with Carella.

A beautiful bag and gloves, and I will be on his arm,

which is a huge honor, so.

I ll have to say

this is kind of comfortably out of my comfort zone.

I live in Bozeman, and we do not wear clothes

like this in Bozeman [laughs] to say the least.

So this is very special.

[bright music]

It s such a collaborative art of what we do.

My mindset coming here is for Pierpaolo to be his muse,

to hopefully, as best I can,

fulfill his vision of what tonight means.

So for me, I m his servant, his humble servant

and I will be very honored to be on his arm.

All right ,now I m gonna go get dressed.

I ve gotta get going.

I ve gotta see how I can maneuver in the shoes [laughs]

I m going to shop, I m going to the grocery store.

Oh, look at that.

[Man] Exhibition is about American and Glenn is a legend.

I never thought that I d had ever come to the Met Gala.

It was too intimidating because I m, I m basically very shy.

And, when they said you like parties coming over here,

I said, if I have someone I can cling to at a party.

Here I am.

Yeah, so, but to be here and to be here with you

No, an honor to have you.

You re so wonderful, yeah.

America legend, and I think he s a color,

usually very girlish.

And I like to shift the perception of color,

because if you shift

and if you switch the perception of the color,

you can also switch the perception of the people.
