Hi Vogue, it s Hayley from Paramore.

Come get ready with me

for a show tonight at the Forum in Los Angeles.

[upbeat trap music]

Right now, we re backstage at the Forum.

This is night two of two sold out shows,

which is unbelievable to me.

This is such a legendary place and we played last night.

I was out of body the whole time,

so now I get a second chance to be in my body for it.

It s 3:20 right now, we go on at nine

and I m not the best at math,

but I m pretty sure that that s six hours.

I m paused. [camera snaps]

[upbeat ambient music]

It s time for glam.

I m gonna turn this into something that gets to be on stage.

I used to never let Brian put extensions in my hair.

[Brian] No.

I was such a brat about it.

[Hayley laughs]

Our band grew up in a time where,

especially females, were picked apart in our scene.

I think in a lot of ways,

I probably wouldn t have been caught dead

doing a lot of fashion stuff

because it was just what is being a poser

and what is being punk?

And where are my scene points?

Now, there is a lot more understanding of presentation

and expression means to the overall person.

I m so glad we ve grown outta that shit.

I mean, I am a 34 year old woman.

Yeah, yow you get to have fun.

Really like to make sure by the end of the show

what we call bang-over hair.

[Hayley chuckles]

So we want it to really look

like you can see the hairstyle from the first song,

and by the time you get to the last song,

you can see it s performed.

The hair really saying,

Oh yeah, she did play a two hour show.

We typically plan so much around my hair

or my makeup look.

Now, that we have these opportunities to work with people

making custom looks for me to wear on stage for the shows,

Rodarte brought these two killer looks

that are both pretty unique to each other

but there s a through line.

Last night was very mini dress,

totally fits what we ve been doing.

But this kind of feels like that same character

in the next decade.

It s a little bit more 70s and that s really cool to me.

I feel like they made two looks that I really love a lot,

and we really do wanna be able to focus on that

and celebrate what they did.

How many times have I gotten to wear a custom designer

for a Paramore show?

It s really not happened a lot.

[lively music]

I was always not really into the makeup aspects

of this whole job until I really got close with Brian.

Makeup for a while was like, how do I cover my face?

And it s the antithesis

of what that process should be about.

Should be almost uncovering something about you.

I m just enhancing the freckles that Hayley already has.

I just want them to kind of peek through under her skin.

My freckles go down here now.

[Brian] I know. It s crazy.

[Brian] I was like, I could keep going,

but I m like, Your whole face will be freckles.

[Hayley laughs] [upbeat music]

Looks great.

All right, I m gonna attempt to put on my own lip liner.

No one asked for this part of this segment,

but we re gonna give it to em anyway.

Hannah McGrath, please don t watch this,

what I m doing with your product.

Okay, I am terrified to show you all

but this is where we re at.

[Brian] It looks good, you re doing a good job.

[Hayley chuckles] I tried.

Just a few more finishing touches to go,

I m gonna go get my outfit on, and then we ll be ready.

This is inspired from a look that they did

for fall winter of 2020 for Rodarte.

We ve been loving Hailey in metallics and silvers.

[Hayley] Yes.

We revisited this in gold, it was originally with pants.

We made a short little ballerina skirt.

We re having a fashion moment tonight.

It s really exciting.

[Lindsey] I m loving the gold.

Once we hone in on someone like Debbie,

or a Jane Birkin, or even a Jane Asher, Tina Turner, Cher,

look at these people that are icons

that kind of morphed as fashion,

had its own evolution and that to me,

is what we re getting to play out over two nights.

Okay, I m gonna go get changed

and I ll see y all in a second.

[upbeat ambient music]

[hairspray spraying]

Oh shit, we re hanging out... [hairspray spraying]

We re hanging over to the 80s a little bit.

[hairspray spraying] [upbeat ambient music]

Yeah, I like seeing

a little bit of that orange come through.

It s cool, subtle.

All right. Okay.

There we go. [upbeat ambient music]

[camera snapping]

Ah, it s so good to meet you!

So good to meet you too!

In real life, finally.

♪ I m in the business of misery ♪

♪ Let s take it from the top ♪

Yeah!

Okay, I m gonna do my vocal warmups now,

and I ll see you right before the show.

What an amazing freeing feeling to just show up as myself

and not have to cover up anything

or feel like I m supposed to.

You look cute. Thank you.

Oh, you re a little orange.

It s a little bit more Bowie than I thought.

It s really cool. Yeah.

All right, Vogue, thank you for hanging out with me.

Thank you for getting ready with me.

It s time to play a show now, so see you later.

Let s go! [audience cheering]
