Good morning, Vogue.

It s Tyla, come get ready with me for the Grammys.

[synth music]

I was nominated for Best African Performance.

I didn t believe it, honestly,

like it literally didn t feel like it was possible,

especially so soon.

The song wasn t really out for that long

before the nomination,

so it felt like I was getting pranked, literally.

Ever since I was small I dreamt

of this type of life

and bringing more attention back home to our culture

and our music and our dancing

and everything that is South African.

So I m just happy that people are embracing it.

[upbeat music]

I m always into like creating,

I mean with Tyla we always into like creating different,

like new style something we never really seen before.

So what I m, what I m doing now, I m just doing twist,

but then I m probably gonna mix it with braids

and I don t, I m not trying

to do something too clean in terms of the parting.

Like I m definitely doing like twist,

but I m just putting some texture, some product into it.

So that has to be quite flat and close to the head.

So it kind of give a a different story to the,

to the old styling basically.

Cause I still want something that look quite

effortless even though it s still strong.

I always loved Water.

As soon as I finished recording it,

I played it for everybody.

Everybody loved it.

So something that was unique was I had a dream

that the song was gonna blow up

before I even dropped this song, which is crazy.

Like initially, in my dream I saw Spotify streams just

going million, 2 million, 3 million.

And I woke up and I prayed

and I said, God, if that s gonna happen, you got me.

And it ended up happening.

So maybe I have superpowers.

[upbeat music]

For the makeup.

We always keep Tyla s skin really, really fresh.

She doesn t like a full coverage beat.

She s been wearing a fancy grill, too.

So it s something that I will like marry really nicely into

like all the accessories.

And the eyes, we re gonna go like

a little more ethereal, kind

of glowy, something to go with like the dress.

The dress is very, very sparkly

and it s a standout for sure.

Nails.

I ve really just been enjoying it.

I have such good people around me, so it s been fun.

Like my best friend travels with me everywhere.

She s right behind you.

She s right behind you.

You re not going to turn around.

I love Ty, wait,

at least moisturizes my lips before you all-

You look lovely.

She s my, she s not creative director.

She does everything but for real like good people around me.

So even though it s scary,

I have people to lean on, at least.

So we decided to switch up the makeup a little bit.

Something more sultry

and less color.

The purple was cut

Yeah, that s a wrap from the story.

That s a wrap for the purple.

That s a wrap.

That s a wrap for sure.

Yeah. Thank you very much.

I m excited, yeah.

I know the nerves

and everything is gonna come while I m sitting down

cause then I m not gonna know when they re gonna

start announcing it.

Like as soon as I hear

and the Best African musical performance goes

to , I m gonna be shaking.

I m gonna be hot.

I m gonna be, I don t know what I m telling you.

Just before that s when I get the most anxious.

[upbeat music]

So as soon as Louis is done with the last touch,

we are gonna go check out the dress.

So come join us.

[upbeat music]

We started doing specific experimenting

with styles from like 2019, 2018 different looks.

Its green.

We ve got a little bit of gem like ocean sparkle,

you know like some cute vibes.

We have like in the hair, seashells in the hair.

So we re just like marrying the idea of the ocean, nature.

Like the closest that we could get to organic but stunning.

The sage green, like this mesh

with the Swarovski crystals.

[upbeat music]

Ha, come on.

Let s do this.

She s wearing

a gown.

I m joking

but it s so cute.

I like it.

Peeking, ooh,

show em the look for not too long.

[upbeat music]

I am shining on that carpet.

Come on.

This is the final look.

Look how cute.

It s a moment.

Thank you so much for spending this time with me.

Thank you to my Tygers watching and everybody else.

Thank you Vogue.

Now I m off to the Grammys, so yeah, enjoy your day,

cause I m gonna enjoy my night.

Okay, that was my outro.
