Haider Ackermann: Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear

[Tim] Fashion moves at such a speed

during these collection weeks

that Haider Ackermann s most radical achievement

might be the fact that he manages to slow time down.

He makes us stop, look, and really think

about what he s doing.

[camera shutters]

He went to Colombia for the first time this year

which is the place that he was adopted from by his parents.

And I see it in this collection more than I expected to.

[Tim] How did the trip to Colombia affect you?

Did it feel like going home in any way?

It makes me calm and more serene,

so perhaps that why I felt like

not having this violence of colors

and just be very much more at peace.

And it s a new path, it s a new road,

so it s a new exercise also to do some motifs and frames.

[Nicole] He moved away from the color,

which has been such a strong signature for him.

That was a new direction.

He s still working that combining masculine and feminine.

I was so surprised to see polka dots

and the lace felt very new.

The clothing was a bit of a dialogue

between a man and a woman, to me.

A very desobeis, you know.

She s kind of undressed,

her lingerie is almost falling off.

It s so romantic.

It s like an ode to a woman that we all loved.

It s just beautiful to look at, like a theater.

[Tilda] Very graphic.

And the prints, heaven, I think.

And just that playing with prints,

it feels vulnerable

in a very fresh way for him.

[Nicole] The most beautiful look

was the very crisp white tuxedo bib, backless,

the high waisted horizontally striped pants.

It was a stunning, stunning look.

[Christiane] Every single detail and how he arranges it,

how he styled it,

you can see how proud the girls are.

And to give you, as a woman,

the feeling that you are strong.

[Tim] The pride that your clothes

somehow manage to give people.

We all have to stand straight in life, don t we?

[Tim] What are you most proud of in that collection?

My team behind me.

[Tim] What does he mean in Colombia now?

A hero.

You know, our country has very hard times.

So for us to have a person like Haider,

everybody feels so proud.

It s incredible.
