Travel is a big important inspiration for us

and we thought, let s do our own journey.

I think the opening ceremony guys have really connected

with a vital part of the Kenzo legacy this season.

That s the bit where Kenzo himself arrived in Paris.

Must be about 45 years ago.

[Interviewer] What does Kenzo mean to you?

Fun, lightness, happiness,

and just playful.

I think that s important in fashion.

There was one outfit that caught my eye.

It was this boot with the matching top

and the matching jacket.

I think the whole look, for me, is like a wallpaper.

Walking out on the street.

I thought it was fabulous.

When he came to Paris from Japan in the 70 s,

it was about sweatshirts, and tee shirts.

And a very young vibrant feeling.

I think it s pretty close to the DNA.

I think we really wanted this collection

to speak to the original roots.

Carol and I took a trip to Thailand

to have our own experience of that trip

that he took from Tokyo to Paris.

It was the jungle interpreted by us.

I feel like fashion is definitely a place where

they do digest concepts really quickly.

I think that s the challenge, isn t it?

For designers.

Having a brand or having a label

that has a really well thought out concept and meaning.

And to me that s kind of what the Kenzo brand is.

I feel like Kenzo had to hard earn what he started

and I think that he had his own community.

And so for us it s about telling

who the new Kenzo community is.

It s exciting.

It s exciting to see everyone

really embracing the brand and the name.
