Jil Sander: Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear

Jil is the mother of clean.

[upbeat music]

Fashion has changed since Jil Sander

last said her name on a women s wear label.

Can she reclaim her crown as a queen of clean?

Today s show suggested she s got it made.

[upbeat music]

[Tim] I think it s a really interesting question

that, that show raises.

You look at it and you think, oh that s very Raf.

And then you think, hang on, was Raf very Jil?

My thoughts exactly.

All I could of was chicken or the egg?

[Christiane] I think Raf did a wonderful collection,

but maybe it was more Raf Simons collection

than a Jil Sanders collection.

I think this is pure Jil Sander.

[Tim] Did you think of it as kind

of a blank slate in a way?

Yes I felt like it referenced many

of her earlier signatures

with the white shirts, and the coats,

and the spare but perfect day clothes.

[Klaus] It left me not only with a smile on my face,

but it left me as well with a bright future

for German fashion again

because I think she really nailed it down.

It looked modern, fresh.

Loved the shoes, loved the proportions,

everything, the fluidity of it.

It was just the perfect return, I think.

This is pure Jil Sander but it s 2013.

[Tim] Very clinical, I thought, very precise.

[Christiane] Yeah, super precise but I loved it.

[upbeat music]

[Cindy] I was always a fan of Jil s.

I think she s been a huge influence of course on Raf,

but also on Celine.

[upbeat music]

[Cindy] It s a tricky comeback however,

I felt like it was re-establishing, I did this.
