Tory Burch: Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear

[Interviewer] What s your favorite part of your job?

I would say everything, I do love everything.

I think it s really fun that I m able to be the designer,

but also the CEO and look at business in a creative way.

Never underestimate the power

of fashion s aspirational touch.

Tory Burch s new collection made me

want to go to beautiful places and buy beautiful things.

She was taking us to like a perfect sunny place,

that she probably lives.

It seemed like a whole mixture of someone

who s traveled a lot but has an American heart and soul.

It s beautifully embellished, I mean, the passementerie,

and the embroidery, and the quilting,

and there s so much nice layering that goes along with it,

and it feels very rich.

I ve always leaned towards color and embellishment,

and it was fun, it was a fun collection to work on,

and I thought a lot about different places that I visited

and what I, and any woman, would pick up along the way.

We took a Moroccan slipper and paired it

with an evening gown.

I thought it was a new and fresh way for evening,

make it a little more low key.

I would kill for some moccasins at this moment,

my feet are killing me.

Tory is a designer to watch, she really is,

every season she comes up with a new idea,

but she never, never diverts from her core principal,

which is Tory Burch herself.

I think the wonderful thing about Tory is that she s

continued to evolve her collection,

both in shoes, bags, and ready to wear,

and I think as the customer is getting more sophisticated,

she s moving along with them.

I think what we re doing is really designing

what we all want to wear.

I have a diverse design team and it s things

that we are missing, or think about,

or want to dream about, and be taken away.

It s sort of the idea of travel

and making the world a very small place.
