Rick Owens: Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear

This hair is born from a vision of me and Rick together.

We want always to do hair shapes.

They remind me pretty much of a Gustaf Klimt sculpture.

The sea of foam at Rick Owens show today made me feel

like I was up above the clouds,

which fitted well with the clothes

because they were pretty celestial, too.

I think a lot of us, we re operating

on a low level of anxiety.

And what I was trying to propose

was just kind of a moment of self-acceptance

and peace and serenity.

The foam is just indicative of how

incredibly creative he is.

He got our attention with that.

We were all smiles.

He s been the prince of darkness

and suddenly there s this amazing, funny, brilliant

foam snow storm coming down.

And you re seeing all these beautiful biased-cut

light-colored, floaty clothes.

It was fantastic as showmanship,

and also as amazing couture.

I love the transparency, kind of easy volumes.

Some of the shapes are really simple,

but that s what elegance is.

I m trying to think of what really makes sense,

and what really seems modern.

I m not saying that I ve got the answers.

I would like to call my effort genuinely honest.

You could probably interpret it as desperately earnest.

But I think people appreciate being spoken to honestly.

It s typical of Rick; he always gives you

something that s really beautiful and soft.

But you expect the other.

I want to wear those shoes that have

the brushed bronze-y gold on it.

I want a vest that s in that faded gold.

I m loving Rick and what he s doing more than ever.

I would never have been able to work for another company.

It s impossible for me collaborate.

Expressing myself this way was my

personal way of participating in the world,

and embracing as much of it as I could.
